Hi everyone!
Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~
Is 7 pm good? Can be earlier if you feel like coming earlier, lol. I'm going to send out the address now. It's really easy to get to. Email me at [email protected] if you can't PM here or if you prefer to email!
I filled out my FAFSA in February and still haven't recieved anything from the school. They really seem to be dragging their feet this year. The system didn't even generate a bill in my account summary for my classes until a few weeks ago. As you know, we regestered for classes in April. So I wouldn't worry too much.
Hi nurse2b,
RNotes actually isn't require at all. The packet we received a few weeks ago has the accurate list of which books and materials are required and which are recommended. I think either way it's also a choice whether to do the paper or PDA version of the book. I couldn't imagine that they were requiring both when I read the bookstore site also! So I waited, lol.
How are you making out getting everything else ready?
I wish you'd checked in a little earlier. We just got together at my house a few days ago. Maybe you'd like to come if we do it again before orientation?
Hi momtofore,
ugh I hope that I didn't get all those books for nothing. I did see the list on the sheet we recieved, but the bookstore gets its list from the teacher as well. I was so afraid to not have everything on the list. In any case, I am sure that it won't hurt to have them. I am going to be upset though if I get stuck with both sets of RNotes and I don't need either one.
I got all of my supplies except for my uniform. I got the Littman lightweight, it seems to be good quality and only 46$ on amazon.com. I would be interested in meeting up with everyone if you get together again and I am sorry that I missed the last meeting. I just stumbled on this thread accidentally through google. I have enjoyed reading all of your posts as they have been very helpful.
I go for my CPR class on Wednesday and my second Hep B vaccine this week as well. I hope that this instructor doesn't drag her feet on getting my CPR card to me on time. I had no idea that they didn't give you the card right then when you complete the class. I am going through Kennedy hospital and they only charge $65. They have lots of classes available, so for anyone who hasn't already gotten their CPR cert. that is a good option. Congrats to everyone on being selected ~!!!!

Best advice I've "picked up" during ($#)$) semesters of nursing school: study in a library with no more than one person; not at home with a multitude of distractions, and not with a study group (increased risk of getting off topic).
