Hi everyone!
Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~
Hey guys! I think I found an easier way to share the memory notebooks files with all of you rather than each person individually emailing me. Enjoy and let me know if you are having any trouble opening the files.
I am in the process of printing the individual files out and I will be whole punching them into a binder for future reference. The pictures are really cute and I always love visuals I feel as though it helps me learn better, so hopefully it can help some of you out as well!

HAVE FUN THIS SUMMER! lol
Glad, I agree with dannipoint about using paper books instead of virtual books. I always figured that I felt that way bc I am older and so much more used to doing things the paper way. I guess not!
I need to go buy another scrub top. I just have one pair of pants and one top so far, lol. I wore a plain yellow top with my scrubs today and am washing everything tonight. Problem is with the hours I'm working and then coming home to plant in the garden and cook dinner and then see my husband for an hour or so, there's no time!! No wonder I never wanted to work these hours while my kids were growing up!
Thanx guys!! my vacation was great, I came back three shades darker but that's ok lol .. I think you guys may be right , I am probably going to go for traditional books. also I wanted to ask you guys, where are you buying your supplies from like the scrubs and pants and all of that stuff that says Gloucester RN. program. I haven't bought anything yet, I will start this week to get everything together but I am really unsure where to get the patch for my scrubs and the polo they want. Thanx Danni for sharing the links :)
Glad, the scrubs, pants, lab coat, patches can be purchased at Best Uniforms in Westville. They even sew the patches on for you! I got my polos from oldnavy.com but I've heard that kohls has some nice onces. Look around at department stores would be your best bet. Best Uniforms will even sew the patches on your polos although they weren't purchased there. Also, best uniforms has bandage scissors, hemostats, and other supplies. However I bought most of my supplies from ebay and amazon GOOD LUCK!
Hi Glad,
I got my pants (cherokee cargo), tops and patches at Best also. Even with online sales the prices were comparable to Best by the time you pay shipping. I got my polos at Kohls. They had a big selection when I got mine a few weeks ago and can also be bought online. I didn't get my lab coat yet. Don't know what I'm waiting for! After reading here and asking Skeletor for his opinion, I went with New Balance sneakers. I ordered mine from FootLocker.com. They are on sale for $40 plus $3 shipping to the store. They can be returned to the store if they don't fit. I recommended Zappos to dannipoint and she went with them. The prices are higher, they have a bigger selection and free shipping in both directions. I'm going to follow the advice of others here and get my stethoscope at Medisave and take advantage of the free engraving. I didn't know about the patch sewing at Best! How did you find out about that, dannipoint??
Are you bringing pictures with you next week? Or just your tan self? Sigh, I want to go away!
Glad,
I asked about online vs. paper at GCC and they said it's entirely up to me(you). I also was debating because some programs make you buy an Ipod touch so you can have the info online while you are doing clinicals. GCC doesn't, but I was wondering if I should do it anyway since I'm going to go further with my education.
In the end, I decided to go paper and if down the line I need to go digital, I will.

momtofore, i found that out from an employee. She was very helpful and nice. She told me they can sew the patches on but it will cost 3$ which isn't a bad price. I ordered my labcoat from their catalog and it should be in within 3 weeks :)

SJerseygrle, i bought an itouch just in case we need it for clinical. I think it would probably come in handy and since there are so many awesome apps for nursing, i will always be preoccupied and studying

Glad, i would think traditional format books would be more beneficial. But that's just my opinion. Because if we need books for class how will you bring online books, your laptop maybe? Also I find that traditional books are easier to navigate when looking for specific info rather than just scrolling through an online book. But it's completely up to you! It's nice to hear from you again and I hope you had a great vacation :)
Also, for anyone who is interested I have some helpful resources. Yes, more! haha. I'm sure everyone knows the memory notebooks at barnes and nobles with the mnemonics. Well, I have a cd with all the pictures from the books. So, send me an email at [email protected] if you would like me to send them your way. Take care and have a great day! :)
