Hi everyone!
Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~
I got a phone call from the office manager at 6 pm today. I've got the job. I'll be scanning paper records into the computer system and depending on what time I'm there, answering phones. They have a backlog of files that need to be done and that is my primary task. I can work full days, or half days, mornings or afternoons, lol. I've told her I will work whatever will be best for them, but prefer regular hours. I'm going to start out every morning and she said I can switch to something else if I want. She said she will be very flexible with vacation time and doctor visits as I am not replacing a staff person. I have no idea when I'm starting! I will have some training on the system and if I have tattoos they need to be covered. I have to wear pants, not capris. There is no required color scheme yet. Yes, scrubs, if I have them. That's all I know so far!
Hi SJerseygrle! Thanks! I thought we could find a place (don't know if we could do it w our GCC email?) where we could discuss our required reading as we do it. Share questions and comments. Share resources that we might find that add to it (like dannipoint has been doing!) So when we start for the school year we have a pretty good understanding of those first classes at least. If we can get a groove or system that works for us established by then, I think we'll be well ahead of the game!
What time would you prefer to get together? I think we can use your available dates as a launching point. What do any of the rest of you think?
As for what to bring. I think any kind of munchie would be great. Doesn't have to be fancy or big and obviously not a lot, lol. There don't look to be too many of us. We may have to try to make a miracle happen for Sammy13 to possibly make it. Anything's possible, right?
Happy Mother's Day to all mothers! Miracles can happen :-). My daughter plays softball in Pitman so I will not be available until June. Also my oldest child is involved with theater which has me occupied until after the school year. I would love to join your study group though. I do look forward to meeting all of you! We can hopefully make it work for a get together before the school year begins. Have a great day, it is so beautiful outside. :anpom:
