Hi everyone!
Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~
Did SJerseygrle go this morning? Why did I think she told us her classes?? SJerseygrle! Where are you?I guess I'm wrong and she goes tomorrow morning? Sorry! I thought that when you posted earlier you wrote about your classes, SJG!
I think I remember her saying that her appt was today at 315, I'm not really sure though.
Yes, SJerseygrle's appt was at 315 today.

Nur 131 08 was full! That's what I was afraid of! I got Nur 131 09 instead and 130 01. Same time & days for 131. At least it's over. I was soo nervous, I have no idea why. Probably because I've been through so much to get to this point I'm afraid it's all going to get snatched away.
I don't want to do peds cause I can't think of anything more horrifying than sick kids. That said, I would love to do OB or NICU. Very sick babies I could do, and all three of my kids were NICU babies so it's an area I'm comfortable with.
After I try it out for a little as a nurse I may even try to get my nurse/midwife certification.
What do you guys want to do?
SJerseygrle, I'm glad we'll at least have class together!
I would love to become a nurse practitioner and eventually a nurse educator. However, I'm going into this at a very late age and will need to decide if it will be worth the time and money that it will take from my family to do both. I think I'm going to have to pick one!
HI SKELETOR!! Haven't seen you in a while!
Are you ready for September lol? Now, if only you're taught what an actual nurse does on a day-to-day during nursing school, you'd be much better-prepared when you graduate.
Make sure to form solid contacts your entire time in school, it's basically the best way to obtain an interview having an ASN degree these days . . .
Nice, Sammy13! Dannipoint and I have 130 05, so the three of us will be together!
Skeletor, I take it you don't mean solid contacts between each other, huh? Should we talk to the nurse managers or someone else when we're working and ask them to be references for us? A couple of nurses I've had in the hospital have told me to get names and numbers.
I hope to be either a psychiatric nurse or nurse practitioner. I've always been fascinated with abnormal psychology and psychiatry. My brother was just diagnosed with a mental illness not to long ago, so I had a chance to witness what it's like in that kind of environment. It was a little intimidating and scary at first, but I found it very interesting. I'm also looking into neonatal and pediatrics.
