Hi everyone!
Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~
I did but then I realized I could get my rn and do a bridge rn-msn program for about the same cost as a 2nd degree BSN program. I also took into account that while I would be done with my BSN faster, my grades would not necessarily have been better because I would be fitting 2+ years of work into 15 months. Slow and steady.[/quote']
I hear you. That's the reason I chose the route I did!
Nice! Did you considered doing accelerated BSN 2nd degree instead? I don't know what all that entails, but I know it exists, lol.I want to have a get-together end of May/1st week of June for anyone we can reach who was accepted to the program. If you're interested or know others who aren't on here and they are interested, let me know!
Keep us updated :)
I don't have a bachelor's on board. But I chose the very long part-time route to be able to be home and to pay as I go. I don't relish the thought of taking on loans until absolutely necessary (probably next year, lol)!
Exactly my point of view lol I can't get financial aid so I work as a CNA part time to help my parents with the cost of my schooling. Because they really don't have to pay for me and I'd feel bad if I didn't at least help. But now since the nursing classes are going to be more, I'm gonna see what I can do without taking loans. I don't wanna do that unless I absolutely need too. I guess I have to cut down on unnecessary spending lol
Unnecessary spending, what's that? LOL. We've cut almost anything not a necessity out already. We still have birthday, Christmas and camping vacations. Can't WAIT to add another income to our family! But I think you're wise to avoid the loans of a BSN first if you can. And good for you for working as a CNA to do it! I plan to move on, but hopefully with an employer's help!
