Gloucester County College Nursing Fall 2011 Hopefuls?

Published

Hi everyone!

Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~

I'm excited and pretty terrified at the same time. My registration appointment is on Wed. the 27th at 9:15. My CHBC with drug screening is completed and I brought the employer form to the school but they said they didn't need it. I sent in my deposit and confirmation of acceptance (but not until this last Friday because I was missing the confirmation sheet in my packet and I had to go pick it up). I still need to make my appointment for my physical and lab work but that was obviously not as urgent. I plan to make those appointments this week and hopefully I will be able to go the week of the 18th. I've finished all of the courses aside from the nursing courses, but I'm waiting for a transcript evaluation to see if the school will accept all of my courses to transfer.

Oh ok, that's great :) Did you bring the disclosure and release form to the nursing office (the paper you had to print from the CHBC website)? Just checking, b/c that's important.

Where did you transfer from mylife?

I'm excited and nervous at the same time too. I don't know what to expect, but I'm hoping for the best!

I did bring the disclosure and release form the same day that I brought the employer form that they didn't need. I have a degree from the University of Central Florida, some AP tests, and some courses from Salem Community College. I'm hoping they'll accept all of the courses that are required for the nursing program besides the nursing courses so that I can focus only on nursing courses!

Mylife, I'm sure GCC will accept your transfer credits. You could check with the website njtransfer just to be safe. But don't worry, I'm sure you will be fine! I'm hoping just to focus on nursing courses this fall. I have 2 more pre reqs to take and I will get those out of the way in the summer.

Hi

GCC accepted my classes other than sciences over 5 years old and my calculus for biological sciences. Can I ask what you have your first degree in?

I can't wait for the semester's end so I can start doing other reading in preparation for the fall. That's the kind of stuff I like most! Right now I'm still doing other-than-school paperwork and working on some house projects! It's going to be a busy and hopefully fun-filled summer for me!

My degree from UCF is in psychology. I am actually taking this semester off because I finished everything I had planned to finish by this last fall. I can't wait to get our reading list and list of things we need to get by the beginning of the program so I can start to prepare.

Nice! Did you considered doing Accelerated BSN 2nd degree instead? I don't know what all that entails, but I know it exists, lol.

I want to have a get-together end of May/1st week of June for anyone we can reach who was accepted to the program. If you're interested or know others who aren't on here and they are interested, let me know!

Skeletor, that includes you, too! ;)

That's a good thing, i think :o lol

I don't know about THAT, lol!

Why thank you, I'm quite flattered :D

I did, but then I realized I could get my rn and do a bridge rn-msn program for about the same cost as a 2nd degree BSN program. I also took into account that while I would be done with my BSN faster, my grades would not necessarily have been better because I would be fitting 2+ years of work into 15 months. Slow and steady.

Mylife, you've got a good head on your shoulders. :)

Even though Accelerated BSN would be faster, it's a lot cheaper to go the slower route, if you have time and everything. To each their own. Good luck to you!
