Gloucester County College Nursing Fall 2011 Hopefuls?

Published

Hi everyone!

Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~

I would double check the 1 hour duration, danni......it may be a refresher course? I've never seen a class less than 3hrs for CPR. The continuing education center has one on May 17th and that one is 3hrs for 8 people......so 1hr seems like not enough time to me.....but double check! :)

I agree with you! It sounded too good to be true, lol.

Kennedy seems rather reasonable to me.

HI everyone :)

I did ok in the Hesi.. high 80's. I did make my appmt and I also finished doing everything as far as the drug test and criminal screening goes. I did the cpr because I work in a Hospital so I am required to have it. also, I did make an appmt for my dr.'s next week. that's all I need to do now , everything else I already handed it . I can't waite untill 26th. super exited .. good luck to everyone . I cant waite to see you all soon.

Ps. my friend also got into the nursing program , so this is a very rewarding and exiting time for both of us :)

That's great that you and your friend both were accepted! Congratulations to both of you! Good luck with everything and I look forward to seeing you in the fall :)

Do you have any idea of the schedule you would like?

I am not sure how the schedule thing works, I haven't looked at it yet, I don't even know where to look for it . lol . if you know please let me know I will appreciate it alot , so i can start to see what days I would like.. I am coming from the shore, so It will probably be something that will save me some time to study since I have a 45 minute drive to GCC.,,,

You can find it by clicking on academic in the GCC portal. Then click look up classes. Click Nursing. And wala! :)

Wow, which shore? That's a really long way to travel isn't it? That's so great that you got accepted! They said in the packet that they may give priority to in county students, but that's great to see someone who is out of county get accepted! Congrats!!

is anyone planning on doing the free PPD test through GCC or just doing at their doc appt?

Make sure you take the American Heart Association BLS-CPR with AED for Healthcare Providers, as the certificate lasts 2 years; versus the American Red Cross course, which lasts 1 year.

Thanks Skeletor ;)

I intend to go through Gloucester County Healthcare for my PPD. I think that's where we can get it for free. I went there years ago when I became a substitute teacher.

Oh ok. If I'm not mistaken I believe there is a free PPD testing on Monday the 11th from 9-11, but don't quote me. I called up last Monday, but I'll verify this in a little bit. I think I will go through them also, it makes more sense to take advantage of something free. I'm guessing they will have to sign the physical paper under Mantoux Tuberculin Test, correct?

You've got it!
