30 mg of Valium at once? Are you sure? That is a very scary dose............

Breathing can also stop with that dose.

Vicodin is routinely ordered for pain relief after that procedure.

Just remember to keep your legs elevated as much as possible and wear your support stockings that you will be asked to wear, almost continuously over the next few weeks.

i looked at the bottle, it does say to take one 10 mg upon pres to office.i don't understand why he prescribed 3.he asked me how high my pain threshold was.great, reasuring question!!!the closure method was not an option because the vein was so long and twisted. the pa told me i should wear support stockings when i start nursing school. i'll let you know how it goes.im having it done at 2.

probably figuring that you may need one for sleep or ? but when you said he ordered 30 mg, big difference......................he ordered 10 mg and gave you three doses. 30 mg could stop someone from breathing...........

Glad I made that clear!I had a gastric bypass July 2001,so I react to meds different than before. Thats why I don't drink.I went to chevys and had 1 drink, and I was in la la land!

Hubby is staying with the kids while my dad takes me to the office. Im looking forward to stopping this pain.

had the procudure done. It went fine.I had a bleeder on the upper portion of the leg which the nurse had to compress for a while.They wrapped me from toe to groin in bandages. After the local faded I went through the worst pain.This made my csections look like a walk in the park.My leg and toes are swelled to twice their size. My hubby walked me to the bathroom and I passed out cold on the floor.

Im taking vicodin for the pain.Its taking the edge off a little.I think Im in for a longer recovery than expected.My husband has been so sweet.He took the kids out to get krispy cremes and brought home starbucks for me.Then,he made me breakfast.

Im so glad I got his done before nursing school.

Im a little concerned on the tingleing of my foot.They have no color change,so there is circulation. I have no idea what the incisions look like. I apologize for any mis spellings,( Vicodin :))

Im a pre nursing student. Im getting vein stripping tomorrow as an outpatient. Doc seems good.He prescribed 30 mg of valium and vicodin for after. No sugar coating, what pain and recovery am I in for? I know I have to get this done before I start nursing school(It causes me a lot of pain)

I had this done on my right lower leg about 12 years ago. I had a tortuous vein that ran from knee to over inner ankle that I was constandly kicking with the other foot by acccident. Ouch! The actual surgery was not much to write home about. Vicodin was plenty for post-op pain. I had staples that were removed at about 10-14 days. The doc removed some on the first post-op visit and I took out the rest myself a few days later with the staple remover he provided me with, as I couldn't see going all the way back to his office for that.The staples stay in longer for this surgery than in other locations such as the abdomen, as these incisions take a bit longer to heal. It helped quite a bit, but veins do recur in different locations. Mine did, but are not nearly as bad as they were before the ligation. If you are on your feet alot (and what nurse isn't?) you can expect them to come back to some degree due to the faulty valves that distinguish vericose veins.

Thanks.Im going to wear supportive hose as much as I can from now on. Im looking forward to getting back on my feet.I love my husband, but he cant cook to save his life!My poor kids want mommy back.

I had it done outpatient three years ago. They injected lidocaine from ankle to groin so I was awake for the whole procedure. I am so glad I got it done. No more pain an my legs look fab!! I didn't think the pain after was that bad. I actually drove home from the procedure.
