Getting out just in time!

I just got an email to all the nurses at my three schools, telling us that beginning in August when the new school year begins, every parent is to be notified of any and every visit to the nurse ? I just emailed the regional director who sent to email and told her it is unreasonable to expect every parent to get a call on every kid. I tired to explain there are often lines of students waiting to be seen and the lines will grow if students are waiting for us to call the family of the kid who was just seen. She is not budging on this. I am extra glad that I am not returning next year. They have been making all sorts of changes in the last few weeks for some reason and it is definitely not going to help the nurses.

What in the name of ice packs and bandaids are they thinking???? ?

My computer system has the capability to shoot out an email to the parent every time I document on LD...could that be arranged? We disabled our function though because we got a million phone calls from concerned parents wondering if LD will survive the remainder of the school day ?

Ha ha! And I emailed her saying "even when we give ice packs and band-aids for something super minor"?

This is a very valid point. My OWN kid used to be a FF and if I got an email or call every time I would be reading emails and listening to voice mails all day long. We use Power School- not sure if it can do that or not.

Ha! Mine too...she'd come home every day in kindergarten "I saw the nurse today!" Ugh..WHY?!?!?!

We use skyward, not sure if power school has the same capability, but may be worth looking in to.

How about for imaginary or ridiculous things? actual reasons for visits last week:When I pinch my butt it gets itchy ***k, don't do that any moreI have this really bad cut ***there was no cutI have a splinter ***it was dirtI passed out at recess ***didn't happen, she was just too warm Sometimes when I cough, it hurts right here. points to left knee ***?!?My teacher said I look paleMy teacher said I'm not myself My teacher said I feel warmI would love to call parents with all of these and the 200 other visits. I'm also a parent and if someone calls me to tell me that they put a bandaid on my kid's paper cut, I'd probably say "thanks, please don't call be unless it's a significant injury/illness or an unusual circumstance"

Bye Felicias!!!

Uggggghhhh nooooo, there is not enough time in the day to call every parent for every little thing. Why have nurses if you are going to take away all of their judgement????

To my knowledge, PowerSchool cannot do that. But I could be wrong. We use CareDox, which can send messages automatically. We had considered going back to PowerSchool for health charting but it doesn't do some things we like about CD...I'm thinking one of them was parent notifications.
