Hello! I am a Filipino. I passed the NCLEX-RN for California already. I'm planning to go the States this April. I am wondering if getting an agency in the States is better because many says that it is better to get an agency because everything will be more easier in getting a job and the processing for changing my tourist visa status to working visa status will be more faster and some agencies do not affect the nurse's salary but instead they are paid by the hospital. I don't know if these are true! Please help me... Should I get an agency or should I go for direct hiring?
Actually, this is not fraud, cause an AOS is a legal process. you get an immigrant visa in two ways:either outside or inside the US. And i think, we all have our own ways of getting things done, it's just fortunate for some to have the chance to get to the US faster than the others...it is not unfair, for those "deserving-true-blue-nurses" cause, it's like youre saying that an opportunity for one is the mishap of another...
Bullseye! I totally agree with you.
as the addage goes... "one man's meat is another man's posion."
so, here's my final take on this matter / issue:
to all trying to get their visas through cp -- good luck to you.
to all trying to get their visas through aos -- good luck to you.
may the chosen route you take be the best course for you and your family.

May I butt in? AOS is a legal process TO THOSE WHO WENT TO THE U.S. WHO INTENTIONALLY WANTED TO WORK IN THE FIRST PLACE. So adjustment of status (AOS) from working visa to immigrant visa. But unfortunately, some people wanted to use this avenue (tourist visa) and go thru AOS. Technically, it's not illegal, but remember when you applied for the the tourist visa, you have to prove that you have no intention staying permanently and working.
You may get away sometimes by circumventing the law, but most often than not, law of averages will get you and you might just regret it for the rest of your life.
Not all legal things are ethical and right. These are the same reasons why Philippines have one of the largest tourist visa denial rate.
Sorry but it does not work that way. Either you need to pay all of the expenses upfront, or the agency will pay for it and it will come out of your pay at an interest rate of about 700%.
This is why I only like direct hire, but you need to cover your expenses.
To do it your way, you will be paying for it over three years to a tune of about $30,000.
