Hey peers,
I wanted to start a thread for pre-nursing students who applied for admissions into the spring of 2020 program. I was denied for admissions into the Fall of 2019 and my application was updated by the admin for consideration for the spring semester. I am re-taking the TEAS-exam over this summer to boost my chances as only 60 students are selected for the spring and 80 for the fall.
My stats when I applied for the Fall of 2019 was:
3.8- General Ed
3.45- Science
3.72-Overall GPA
Teas- 70.5%
My Stats for the Spring of 2020
3.88-General Ed
3.57-Science
3.74-Overall GPA
Teas- Retaking
As of the Summer of 2019- I will have all nursing pre-requisites complete, including the new Psych 2103- Intro to human development. I just graduated on the 7th with my Associate of Science degree with high honors but it seems to me that having all pre-reqs complete and a high gpa doesn't guarantee admissions as long as your Teas score and science gpa is competitive.
Thereon, share your stats ladies and keep God in your prayer as he has chosen us to pick this field and nursing is very rewarding, working as CNA and Medtech for 4 years has really opened my love for the field. Yes at times the workload is very heavy and draining but I wouldn't give up the time I spent with my patients, nurses and their family members for the world. Caring for others is my calling and I know God called each of us for this ?

Don't feel bad girl, I can't stress this enough, I got rejected in April and accepted in May but received my packet in June, I was bummed out too, my GPA is at 3.74, my overall GPA for nursing general ed right now is a 3.88, I got in with a overall teas of 70.5% so let that sink in. We have 69 students in our class for fall , we had a huge turn out rate for fall, so who knows, maybe you'll get in for the spring if that happens, but do consider that some students from fall rejected their seat to be held until spring so that causes the rejection rate too, because those who rejected their seat is most likely going to have their seat in the incoming semester.
Dont lose hope ,

@Jennychi24 People do that? I mean people reject their seat to purposely go in a semester later? If so why like have you heard of reasons why people do that I'm just wondering.
@Tonisha90 People don't purposely reject their seat, life happens and sometimes people are not ready to endure the time consuming hours and studying time that nursing comes with, I literally passed out my first week of school, I first took it lightly because I am a CNA, but nursing school is a very humbling experience and is not to be taken lightly at all, It's a lot of work, reading, studying and time management, I'm studying for an upcoming exam and just had my first vital sign learning objective, which went well.
One fellow peer, was accepted for the spring of 2019, but had to hold her seat until Fall 2019, and then we have students repeating fundamentals, so really if you do the math, maybe 70-75 is actually accepted + returning, repeating students. On the other hand, if a student rejects their seat, they have to go on into the process again but most likely they will have their seat, since theyve been already accepted. So it's not on purpose, it's just life happen and some people are not ready, and by our high-turn over rate, some people were not ready, it's a lot , my anxiety level hasn't come down once since nursing school started, I'm still adjusting .

It's what I did. I had hoped and planned to start the program this semester, and got accepted, but life circumstances weren't going to work out very well if I had. So I had to deny my spot and apply all over again for spring. It was really hard to do, and I wish I hadn't had to do it, but it happens. I'm sure other people had similar circumstances. Another reason would be if you applied to multiple programs and got accepted to more than one. It's why they do two waves of acceptances here, like what happened for @Jennychi24 ?

I just got my acceptance today, so I'm so excited to finally get to start this! My good friend is in your cohort, and I've been hearing the same thing from her about the anxiety. Your next test is Monday, right? Good luck there, and thanks for hanging around and sharing info with us!

@Jennychi24 I get it 100 percent I am a mother of 2 myself and a wife. So I completely understand life happening. I was just wondering did it have anything to do with the GPA or anything school wise. Thanks for the detailed insight. Your story gives me much hope and I'm still keeping faith that I will hear something.

I know someone who has a GPA that's a 3.2 but is in the program because they have all their pre-reqs done, I would recommend completing all before the nursing program to enhance your possibilities to get in, I got in by the grace of god and keeping the faith. Keep your faith, you will get in maybe by the end of October or early November, and let me know if you do, because I am rooting for you all to get in like I did ❤️ It was a miracle for me because usually once their decisions is final, it's final unless someone gives up their seat !
