Can anyone who has been admitted to the nursing program at Ga State tell me how long after the application cut-off date did you learn whether or not you were admitted to the program? Also, did you receive a letter or were you able to view it through the GA State system? Thanks for any help you can give.
Hey guys! i want to butt in on this conversation! I'm currently an A2 (accelerated 2nd semester), so if anyone has questions about the accelerated program, I'm more than happy to answer! They send out letters of acceptance to the top 10% of applicants in each of the program (traditional, accelerated), in the first couple weeks. The rest of the letters go out the end of March, or first part of April. And the pins quiz showed up 3 weeks after I turned in my letter. I know it's hard waiting for acceptance letters, but they'll come soon! Good luck guys! It's a great program, you'll really like it.

Thanks so much for your response. I have applied for the accelerated program and the waiting is killing me. I know the competition is tough so I am hoping for the best while telling myself I can try again for the spring if I dont make it. I am also worried about the level of work i will face if I do make it, but like I said ,I survived GA Tech for 2 years and figure it cant be any worse than that experience was.
Hey Gander,
You're right, the competition is tough. Hopefully you'll get in, and not have to worry about it anymore. If not, you can reapply for the next semester. I know that's not ideal, but you'd still finish earlier than if you did traditional (not talking down on traditional, but accelerated just finishes a lot faster). I'll be honest, first semester is hell. You constantly have quizzes, tests, papers, etc. You have a few things due every single week. There's no rest. The good things is that if you can make it through first semester, 2nd is so much better. The classes are quite a bit harder, but there is so much less work due. It almost feels like a little vacation. So, just remember that when you start. Get through the first semester and you'll be ok. I can't imagine what Georgia Tech was like, I'm sure very difficult, so I cant' compare. I'm sure it's just a lot different. You're not just going to class in nursing school. You have to worry about clinicals, and all the extra work that's involved with that. It's almost like you're working on top of your classes. First semester, you have one clinical day per week. For seven out of the 16 weeks, you're in the hospital. The rest of the time, you're in lab practicing skills. Now (2nd semester), we're in clinicals for two 8 hour days per week, on top of classes. 3rd semester, it's two 12 hour clinicals. As for the work, I don't think it's extremely difficult. The hard part is how much you are expected to know. The reading is almost impossible to keep up with. The other part is the NCLEX style questions, which I'm sure you've heard about. You kinda get used to them though, so try not to worry too much about it. Anyways, let me know if you have anymore questions. I couldn't find anyone in the accelerated program to answer questions for me before I started, so I'd love to help!

Hey Gander,
No problem. My program GPA was 3.94 and NET was 94, and had really good recs. It's good, but I got my letter within a week like another poster on this thread, so that's top 10%. I looked back through your posts and saw your GPA and NET. I really doubt that you won't get in. You can never be sure until you get the letter, but you have great grades from Tech and volunteer experience. There are quite a few people in my program who had lower gpa's than you, and got plenty of B's and even some C's in their prereqs. I don't know for sure, but I think that they'll look highly on your volunteer experience. I do think that the rec's and essays made a big difference too, but probably more for people who they're trying to decide between. I'll cross my fingers for you! You should get the letter here in the next few weeks!!

You dont know how much i appreciate all the help you have given me with your answers. My GPA is not nearly as good as yours but i did get the 94 on the NET. It's out of my hands right now, all I can do is wait and hope for the best. If I get in Im sure I will have more questions for you lol. Good luck with the remaining semester and I hope I will have need of your knowledge of the program.

I submitted my application to the BFLSON in the last week of Feb. I still haven't heard back from them yet. As far as GOSOLAR, it just says "complete ready for review." The waiting is driving me crazy also. I'm also starting to consider KSU because I could afford to live in Kennesaw, but not in downtown Atlanta, and I really don't want to make the commute from where I am now (north Gwinnett) to GSU. Anyone have any feedback on that idea?
