Georgia State Nursing

Can anyone who has been admitted to the nursing program at Ga State tell me how long after the application cut-off date did you learn whether or not you were admitted to the program? Also, did you receive a letter or were you able to view it through the GA State system? Thanks for any help you can give.

Gander,

The accelerated program is very intense. From what I'm told from other ACE students is that the first two semesters are the most difficult. If accepted, you will begin clinicals during your first semester. I also understand that you will not have a life for the next four semesters (but it will def pay off later!!). If you find that the ACE program is too fast-paced for you, you can always drop down to traditional (a couple of students went this route) w/o any probs. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. If you have any specific details or questions that you need answered feel free to ask (if I don't know the answer, I know a couple of ACE students that I could ask).

Thanks so much for all your help answering questions, they have been very informative. I am kinda worried about the pressure of the program (if I get in that is ) but since I spent my 1st two years of college at GA Tech and survived that I figure that there is no way it can be any worse, lol. I have a fairly decent program GPA (3.64) and NET of 94 but i still am needing to finish my 2nd chemistry this summer which does concern me a bit. Hopefully my essay was good and I do have volunteer healthcare experience. If I dont get in this time I will try again for Spring.

Does anyone know how GA State calculates your program gpa if you already have a degree? Do they include the core courses in Areas A-F or do they just look at the prerequisite classes? Thanks so much!

They only look at your prerequisite classes for your program GPA not all the others. If you look on the schools webpage under nursing you can see the list of what they include.

I talked to the advisor and she said that they also include core courses, does this just mean ENGL 1101, ENGL 1102, MATH 1101 or MATH 1111, MATH 1231, PSYC 1101, and Abnormal Psyc, along with the sciences CHEM 1151 and CHEM 1152 and A&P I, A&P II, and Microbiology along with HHS 3000 and NURS 2010? Thanks for the help!! I want to apply to the Accelerated Option

http://chhs.gsu.edu/nursing/fallacceleratedplan.html will tell u what they use to calculate their program GPA and lists the classes you must take before at state before enrolling in their nursing program.

This is what I thought initially. Thanks.

Curlygirl,

I turned in my sheet with my signature stating that I will be attending GA state nursing school. However, do you remember how long it took for them to put the PINS quiz on uLearn? They said it should only take 1 business day, but it still isn't up.

GeorgiaP - were you able to see your acceptance online? I've been checking through GSU's website 3 and 4 times a day with my status always at "application compete and ready for review"....the suspense is killing me, especially since others are getting letters!

Hey! No they didn't show it online. I actually found out a lot earlier than other people did. I was in their office today and they actually said I was the first person to turn in my sheet stating I will be attending so don't be worried! Also, I saw a bunch of people in the office going through all the applications today. But you will receive a letter in the mail. Good luck!!!! :)

How many people that you know have already gotten letters. I also wonder if they send out letters to both programs at the same time

I got really excited when I got a letter from GSU in the mail today...but it was only a Statement of Intent to Register. It doesn't mention anything about the school of nursing at all, I'm pretty sure it's just because I had to apply to the school first because I'm transferring. Obviously I got in to the school, just not the nursing program (yet). The wait continues....

GeorgiaP9,

Sorry, but I don't remember how long it took to get the PINS quiz.
