Georgia State Nursing

Can anyone who has been admitted to the nursing program at Ga State tell me how long after the application cut-off date did you learn whether or not you were admitted to the program? Also, did you receive a letter or were you able to view it through the GA State system? Thanks for any help you can give.

Well, I got a letter from GSU yesterday. It says that I was not selected for admission, but I have been placed on a waiting list. It goes on to explain that applicants on the waiting list may be offered a position should one become available. Also, the waiting list is destroyed after the first day of every semester. So, I guess if someone who gets accepted and decides not to go to GSU, I may get another letter. Oh well, good luck to the rest of you. In case anyone is wondering about the admissions status on GOSOLAR: I'm not sure what it says now because my access has been denied due to system upgrading. Now, I suppose I will begin the application process all over again, but with KSU. Good luck to all, and stay optimistic.

SeekingBSN,

I am sorry to hear your news. Keep your head up and reapply. There is always the chance someone will decide not to go, too.

If you don't mind me asking, what was your GPA and NET score? It worries me how competetive these programs get.

Thanks and best of luck to you!

My NET is an 82 composite, GPA is 3.52. As of today, the admissions status on GOSOLAR still says "complete ready for review."

Did you apply for the accelerated or traditional program?

Well I hope that you still have a chance at acceptance. Good luck!

I know you will get in somewhere!! Don't give up!!

Thanks for the encouragement, I actually just submitted my undergrad. application to KSU. I'll keep you all posted if I hear anything from GSU. Good luck!

Just a suggestion to anyone applying to GSU nursing school is try very hard to get some volunteer experience in the medical field, I believe they consider that very important since most who apply have good grades and NET scores

Specializes in Endoscopy/MICU/SICU.

Quite a few people in my class got in off the waiting list. Also, I know many people who didn't get in the first time, reapplied, and got in the second time. Don't be too discouraged. Keep trying....

thanks for that tip!!
