Georgetown U. Accelerated BSN - Spring 2010

Published

Hi Everyone,

I just submitted my application for Georgetown's Accelerated BSN starting Spring 2010 and I just wanted to open a post for anyone else that has applied as well.

Hunderdahl -

Are you pretty set on living in georgetown? I hear Arlington is a good option as it is just across the bridge and cheaper..

I would like to pay under a 1000.. and am willing to look at surrounding areas for cheaper rent.. as long as it is close to a metro :)

OMG...I actually checked out that place when I was there for the interview- not inside but picked up a flyer from the outside! I'm all for a group of us getting a place together....it makes sense financially! Hunderdahl- I think I remember you from the interview..were you there on the 22nd? Did your undergraduate in Colorado? Let us know if you hear back from the owner and Congrats on getting in!!

Hey Naz! Yeah I remember you too! I'm really excited to hear back from this person because the apartment look AMAZING! I'll send you any addition pictures they send me.

Good idea Hannah! I just joined :)

I cant wait to just get out there and start this program :)

Just signed up on Facebook! Hannah what's the rent on this place? Did you all get an email over the weekend from Samuel..welcoming us? I believe there will be another avenue for us to communicate with everyone in our cohort as well? I'm so excited...

Yes I got the email from Samuel as well. I cant wait either! Moving will be so interesting....

yeah i got it too - he is so nice (and hilarious!)

the rent is $560 with 4br. im hoping we can chat with the renter and get it down. as far as living outside of GT, i would do it if the place was right, but i just have a feeling that im going to be thankful if i decide to live closer in town. i have friends across the river though and they really like it though. ideally, id LOVE to be able to walk to classes!

My facebook is always so slow. Cant find the group for some reason. I'll try again later.

I think living together to save money is a very good idea. Ideally, I'd like to live within walking distance to the school...but I wouldnt mind living on some kinda of metro line so I can get there fast. I dont want more than half an hours commute though. I wont be able to bring any furniture too.

I'm totally serious about the program, but pretty social and outgoing. I like a balance. I was browsing on Craigslist and found some place in Georgetown for free....but you have to be "the boss" of the house...sounds like some shady S&M thing. Too good to be true. But free rent is just so tempting! :lol2:

My price range is around $600-900 (rent + all utilities).

Nice price!! Same here: I'd love to walk to classes too.

I'm sick of living like a poor college student, esp. since I feel all old. But my budget leaves me little choice. So excited to be moving though

I probably can't get there until 1/6 though.

Just Jane, that does sound pretty sketch.. Definitely be careful if you do decide to go with the free rent.

We only have about 2 1/2 months to find a place to live and get all the loans out that we need. I am getting pretty stressed out since I've never had to pull out a loan before. If anyone has any suggestions, I would definitely appreciate it.

Also, I hope you guys are aware that the metro does NOT run directly into Georgetown. The closest metros are Rosslyn (Arlington) and Foggy Bottom. It is still a good 15-20 minute walk to campus once you get off.

I know Georgetown has a shuttle that runs from Rosslyn to Campus.. it would be nice to just walk to campus though.....

Allimar.. I am stressed too! I need to hear about this scholarship before I decide what loans to apply for.....

Yeah, I was thinking hypothetically worse case scenario if I didn't get the scholarship.. It will be a HUGGEE loan! I was told to try for federal loans instead of private loan.. not sure? What does everyone think?

Yeah, there are shuttles that run from Rosslyn to Campus. It would be nice to just walk 5 minutes to campus though, that would be awesome. It just seems like August would have more availabilities right near campus compared to December -- And the fact that we will be moving during the middle of winter!
