George Washington University FNP Fall 2016

Published

I was hoping I could start this thread and meet some other nurses interested in the FNP program offered at GW. I just received my acceptance letter for Fall 2016 and am so excited! Feel free to ask questions about the application process or if you have applied/are interested or have been accepted :)

Congrats!

When did you submit your application? I'm still deciding if I want to apply to GWU or not..

I submitted my application late September but all of my info on NURSINGCAS was not verified until mid November. There are plenty of NP programs but I picked this one for a few specific reasons...It is part time so I can work full time, GWU has a great reputation and being that I have my ASN and a bachelor's degree in a non nursing field this program allows admittance to the masters program with the condition of completing a bridge summer course.

Hello,

I was also considering GWU. How much does this program cost? Do they offer any scholarships?

It comes out to be about 50,000 total. I believe they do offer scholarships, I have to look more into it tho.

Ok. What was your GPA if you don't mind me asking. Mine is under a 3.5, but I have about 6 1/2 years experience in critical care, LTC and Public Health combined, and I want to work in Primary Care at my local health department. I volunteer at local underserved clinics when I have time as well. I read about the program online, and it seems like it could be a very good program.

I don't mind at all. My overall GPA is 3.4 and my nursing GPA is a 3.9 . Your experience sounds great! I just finished ASN this past December and am about to start my first job as an RN in the emergency department. I was accepted contingent upon graduating my program and passing the boards, I also have to take a bridge summer course.

Hi everyone! I just submitted my application for fall 2016 and got an email today saying it was sent to the admissions committee. Now the waiting begins. I've been an RN for 2.5 years. The first two years I worked FT in adult medical/surgical/trauma ICU and PRN in peds primary care. I have my CCRN and I just recently switched to ER/Trauma! I have a BS in Kinesiology, an ASN, and am finishing my BSN in May! Good luck to everyone on here and happy waiting! :-)

Hey CNimmo,

I am also starting in the Fall in the FNP program as well! Nice to meet you! Well via the internet anyway :)

Nice to meet you too! I can't wait to get started. Do you already have your BSN or do you have to do the summer bridge course as well?

I'm graduating with my BSN in May! Should we start a Facebook page?
