George Washington University FNP Fall 2016

Published

I was hoping I could start this thread and meet some other nurses interested in the FNP program offered at GW. I just received my acceptance letter for Fall 2016 and am so excited! Feel free to ask questions about the application process or if you have applied/are interested or have been accepted :)

I also got accepted for GWU FNP Fall 2016 program. I live 20 minutes outside of DC. The cheapest bet is securing a place via AirBNB in the foggy bottom/georgetown area.

Hi! I just submitted my acceptance for the GW FNP program for the fall. I'm having a hard time finding the facebook group...is there somewhere else folks are connecting or can someone send me the link?

that link should work. Otherwise, type in "GWU FNP Fall 2016 Entry" and before you hit enter, in the drop down box it will show the option for the closed group GWU FNP Fall 2016 Entry.

Hi Everyone I look forward to meeting everyone in August. Anyone from the NJ/NYC area?

Anyone taking the bridge course this summer?

Hi sed09,

Congrats! I am wondering how long it does take to receive the admission decision. I submitted my application right before the deadline with some delay with my transcript. But I received the confirmation email from the school that my application sent to the admission committee

Hi everyone,

Congrats on your admission to the program! I am looking into applying for GWU's part-time FNP program beginning in Spring '17. I have been a nurse for almost 3 years, 2 1/2 in med/surg & 6 months in ICU. My ADN GPA was 3.4, but my BSN GPA from Frostburg was 4.0. I don't have any recent volunteer experience (working on that now) or any other extracurriculars. I am wondering what you think my chances are of getting in? Have any of you been admitted that have a similar resume? Thanks in advance! And good luck with the program.

Hey everyone, I know this thread has been quiet for awhile, but I'm looking at GWU's RN-BSN/MSN bridge program. I'm just curious about the admission requirements. So.. my ADN GPA is 2.78... Not very good at all, I know. :( There are 10 credits that I need to meet that part of the admission (Micro, Eng 112, and a Ethics course). According to these GPA calculators online, even if I make all A's in those classes, my GPA would only be 2.87.. Also, according to this calculator, it would take 30 credits of A's to just get to 3.0.. Has anyone had any luck getting into this program with a subpar GPA? I can't stand the idea of paying for 10 classes I don't "need" to try and raise my GPA. I have 2 years experience as an RN. *feeling defeated* :T

CNimmo,

This is the same situation I am in now! I am finishing my ASN and am submitting my application to GWU this week. I know it might sound odd to try to apply to a graduate nursing degree program before starting to work as a nurse, but I am confident this is the field I want to be in.

I just wanted to see if you remember your application much at all? I'm worried that I might not know exactly what they want in their statement of purpose and that that would hurt my chances of being accepted. And, as I haven't passed NCLEX yet, I don't have an RN license to upload with my application. What other kinds of optional documents did you include, if any at all? And do you have any other pieces of advice for submitting this application?

Thank you for anything you have to offer!

Is there anyone who is currently attending or have completed GWU NP program and willing to share their experience? Is the workload manageable while working and having kids? How was it finding clinical placements? Would you recommend the program? Thanks for any info at all!
