Nursing Students General Students

Published

Hi, everyone!

I just joined this BB a few days ago. I've already posted a couple of times, but I just wanted to "introduce"myself. I'm about to enter my 3rd semester of a BSN program.

This site seems like a really great resource, and lots of fun too. It's nice to know that there are so many student nurses out there willing to help each other out.

So, I look forward to getting to know you through this site.

Good luck to everyone in this new school year!

:balloons: congratulations on the completion of your bsn! :balloons: all the best to you as you continue your education.

what area of nursing are you working in and what was the deciding factor?

Actually my bachelors is a science degree with a major in nutrition. Same for my masters. I just started back to the hospital after 11 years in home health. I noticed my patients were severely lacking in nutrition information. It is amazing that all my wound care clients wounds healed faster and their bloodwork was much better after several visited with targeted education to the dietary intake. After I finish my masters I am going on for my PHD so I can teach nutrition. That is after I go back to traveling nursing. I wanted to get my skills updated to the changes in technology that have occured since I worked in acute care.

Did you start in a BSN program or get an ADN then continue? I was out of school since 86 and went back in 2000. Took me one year to get my BS. I do on line tests and papers but submit my education modules via the mail since they are sometimes 40 to 60 pages. I love distance education. Since I work two jobs with 5 kids I needed something very flexible. I can log on anytime.

Are you practicing now? I am in Ohio. Where are you?

Thanks for responding,
