Grading scale

Nursing Students General Students

I just started school (my first class was last night) and found out that the grading scale is high(i think). (this is a tech college and I am in a pre-req LPN course). You must get above 79% to pass the class-and all nursing classes. Now, it has been a few years since I have been in school (and I didn' take it that seriously back then), but is this normal? What is the scale at your school? What kind of school are you in (tech, 4yr, community)? Do I sound a little nervous, or what?!

There's been other threads on this that you may consider checking out. Every school is different. At mine you had to do better than a 75 average on exams.

We have to make a 75 on EVERY exam... With one retake, if you fail that one then you are OUT..

We have to have 75% on all of our exams other wise you are kicked out of the program. There are no retakes but it is over you "overall" score for exams....so if you get a 70 on one and an 80on the next....it evens out. Of course our final is worth so much that its grade pretty much determines everything.

70% or higher here!

93- A

85-92 B

77-84 C

75 and up is passing, but some profs are harder than others and expects 80 and up. i think this is pretty consistenet because the program does try to WEED OUT people who shouldnt be there, ya know? at least, thats how the teachers explained it when we asked. i'm in a tough adn program which takes 3-4 yrs to complete.

amy :)

At my school, you have to finish out the quarter with a 75% on tests and quiz scores to pass.

We were 75% or higher passes!

At our school we have a 7 increment scale. So you must pass the class with an 80% which is a C. But I guess it's good for the student and the potential patient. I wouldn't want someone working on me who only a little more than half of what they needed to know.

Our's is 80% or higher to pass.

im my school its 76 and above!
