Did Anyone FeeL Nervous before becoming an LPN......
Wow, i know exactly how you feel. I was scared of puking at the first sniff of smelly poo. Now, it is no big deal. I just try to get my nose as close to my armpit as possible. I am entering my last semester of an LPN program this fall. You will be terrified of everything, failing the classes, failing the labs, doing something wrong at clinicals. You and everyone else in your classes/group will all talk about how scared you are. Once you get done with the first day, the initial fear is a lot less intense and you just get into a "groove", sort of. The fear is still there, it just becomes part of your life and you get used to it, sometimes you don't even notice it. But, i know nurses who still have that kind of fear...if they do one thing wrong and something happens...you can loose your license. When you think of it that way...i think clinicals are much less stressful. Don't worry, it won't be long and you will be looking back and smiling reminiscing about school. :)

MA's Calling Themselves Nurses?
If I offended anyone by saying that my grandma reffered to caring for people as nursing and that was years ago. What I was trying to say is that i have heard of the term being used loosely. I forgot to add that I distinctly remember seeing everyone in the clinic with a name tag that identified their certifications of nursing LPN/RN-i don't think the receptionists had tags-I don't remember seeing any on the MA's. But the LPN's and RN's had tags.

MA's Calling Themselves Nurses?
I am a student and would be really PO'd if some one who wasn't licensed claimed to be a nurse. I would be even more PO'd if i were the patient. However, i would say that the general population does not know the difference among PCA, NA, LPN, RN, HUC-they think everyone is a nurse. I know as a fact, i didn't know there was a difference between RN and LPN. If some one said they were a nurse, i assumed they were an RN. Boy, have I learned a lot since those days-and i am only a first semester LPN student!! I vaguely remember the whole refering to caring for some one as "nursing" them. However, they always refered to it as "nursing" so-and so, not that they WERE a nurse. But that was back in grandma's day, 70 years ago! Yep, things have changed! Anyway, in the great state of MN-you can not practice nursing w/o a current license. So, i would assume that if you told someone you were a nurse-you would be commiting a crime.

Need suggestions on BSL/CPR certificate!! Many thx
This will be mostly a refresher. Although the bagging will be new...although I wouldn't say it is all that HARD. I am sure when you are doing it in real life it can be stressful. I took a class at the local hospital and we were done in like 7-8 hours. We did not take first aid like red cross offers (BLS and First Aid in one class). I would definelty suggest taking an AHA at a local hospital.

Breast Reduction ???? To or not to ????
I think the breast reduction made them look skinnier. One had always had a relatively flat stomach, you just couldn't see it before. The other one is the shape of a potato anyway-so it just makes her look marginally skinnier. I would think that most men would think that the one looked better before-simply because she was a red head, had BIG BOOBS, and a flat stomach.

Breast Reduction ???? To or not to ????
I know 2 people that have had breast reductions and both absolutely love their new boobs. One used to have her bras specially made so that she could tolerate them for an 8 hour work day. She just loves her new look-and being able to shop at a regular store for bras.

Nursing school loans
My SIL is a transcriptionist. She was making $14 an hr a year or 2 ago. But she has been doing it for at least 5 years. I don't know how easy it is to find openings. I think it only took her 1 or 2 semesters at a tech college.

Depressed about job experiences as CNA
You pick up your chin and keep on going with what you want to do! If you like the residents and you like the work, don't let anyone stand in your way. You sound like just the kind of person those residents needed. And i think your boyfriend was right. I think your co-workers were intimidated by you. Maybe by your looks, but most certainly by your level of care and not whining about things-oh and working hard. Just like with any job-sometimes you don't "fit" in certain cultures and it makes going to work a nightmare. It happens everywhere-not just nursing. I find it happen with a number of different scenerios. Don't give up!!

How often are the Dads prosecuted?
I went to high school with a girl who got prego when she was 16 and her boyfriend was 15 (he was 16 when they had the baby). I believe she had to go to court and they ordered that she had to go to some sort of class-kind of like AA-I can't remember what it was called-but it was like a stataotry rape thing. I was really suprised that the county was so on top of that.

I am a worried CNA
Girl, get those NIKE's on and like the wind!! You don't need to- and shouldn't take that. I would get a different job and call the state as soon and I step foot out of there! Not to mention I would let those other CNA's have it with both barrels! If they don't care about people-go work retail!! Not to mention if some low life called my house with the sob/how-dare-you story, I'd just tell her if she had been doing her job she wouldn't have been in trouble in the first place! I hate when businesses pay their workers pennies because the people on top want more $$$. It is always the people who need help the most that suffer. I hoep that there is a SPECIAL place in hades for these people!! Right next to those who get a job in healthcare and really don't care about people (not to mention falsifying records!!) :angryfire

Federalize Nursing Licenses! Who's with me?
Isn't EVERYTHING about $$ these days? Well, Federal licenses would surely put an end to revoked licencees going to the neighboring state to practice. Since we are tested on a federal level, wouldn't it make sense to have Federal licensure, and from there maybe just registering in each state that you practice? But....could you imagine the hoops they would make you go through to renew the Fed. license, not to mention what they woudl probably charge?
