  1. Just keep on calling the Admissions Office. One of my friend got the admission in late May. Good luck to you. Isabel
  2. For the RN program in Hostos, you need to go through: (1) finish all the prerequisite courses(A&P 1, Chem 1 and 2, Pschology and some English). (2) preclinical period: one semester. Students' need to take Nursing Concept (2-credit course).Students have test very week they meet. (3) After you pass nursing concept with a "C", then you are officially labeled as "a nursing student". After another 2 years, then you are done. I am taking Nursing concept this year and I think it is tough although I get all "A"s in all science courses. But the professor is good. Still I am transferring next semester, to an Accelerated Program, because the program at Hostos is too long for me. BTW, since your gf already has a BA, why not go to some Accelerated one-year program? Good luck to her. Isabel
  3. Hello, Asterias Aureus, Congrats on your graduation from Columbia ETP Program. :) I just applied to to this program, but I am not sure whether I get some chance of being admitted. I think I can get A in all science courses and my general GPA in undergraduate is around 3.5 and the major GPA is 3.7. If it's proper, could you tell me what else I can do for my application? I really want to join in that program. Thanks a lot in advance.:balloons: Isabel
  4. Hi Ian, Thank you for your encouragement. I just think it is unbelievable to learn to accomplish such a sacred task-to save people's life, in several hours. Anyhow, I will try. Isabel
  5. "You should get a manual with a pre-test to complete before class, then bring to the class for self-assessment." Thank for your encouragement. Your advice is exactly what I want to do. I did find the textbook "Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers". But the problem is that where I can find the pre-test? I know there is some tests online for the renewal of the certificate. Maybe I can make use of those materials? Isabel
  6. Different schools have different entrance exams. You can go to the Admissions Office and ask about the exam. Usually, in the bookstore or in the nursing department, they offer the preparation book for the test. Good luck to you. :) Isabel
  7. Hello antares, Thank you for your useful information. You are so kind to have summarized all the relevant information. But I still have two questions: 1. What does "volunteering" mean specifically? To work as volunteer in some nursing environment? 2. Does the GPA of the first degree matter a lot? Mine is only 3.06. Can I compensate for this low GPA by raising the GPA of the science prerequisites? Thanks. Isabel
  8. I want to get a certificate in BSL for Healthcare providers. I called some hospitals and emergency skills company and got unbelievable advisement. The following is what I was told by them: I only need to spend 9 hours taking courses in one day, and then, at the end of the class I will be required to take a test. It I pass, then I get the certificate. It is really unbelievable. I know the textbook "BSL for Healthcare providers" has over 200 pages, but is it really possible to cover all the content in only 9 hours in one day? Or need I read through the book before I attend the classes? I am really worried. Any advice from you are most welcome. Thank you very much in advance.:) Isabel
  9. Dear Ross1, Thank you so much. Good luck to you. Isabel
  10. Hello everyone, I want to apply for an accelerated BSN in or around New York City. Could anyone of you give me some suggestions on: (1) Where can I find a list of the accelerated BSN programs? (2) Does it matter if the first bachelor's degree is in arts? I did not touch science for 6 years. Any other suggestions are also very welcom. Thank you so much in advance. Isabel :balloons:

  12. Hello everyone, I am very eager to join in the RN program in Westchester Community College. But I hear that there is very sharp competition to join in the RN program, so I come here for advice. I got to know that each applicant has to take TEAS (Test of Essential Skills) by the ATI. My question is how many points should I get in this exam so that I can be admitted into their program? Any sisters or brothers that are now in the RN program in WCC can lend me a hand? Thanks. Isabel
  13. First of all, good luck on your summer courses. Another question is that: Do you think accelerated program in Stony Brook will be too much for one student with a BA in arts? Thank you. Isabel
