I had a little extra $ to spend yesterday, plus a little extra time before class, so popped into the bookstore on campus, and was looking at the vast array of drug guides. I decided to buy one, just for my reference, knowing it probably (with my luck) won't be the one used where I go to school in the fall, but I wondered it anyone had used it, and what they thought. There are just a bazillion of them out there!

Anyway, it (Lippincott) Springhouse Nurse's Drug Guide 2004, with CD rom, 5th Edition.

What does everyone else use?

I've never used that one. Mine is Davis's Drug Guide for Nurses 8th ed. I love it and refer to it often.

Mine is also Davis Drug Guide 8th edition and I LOVE IT. The only other one I have used was Mosby's and I didn't find it nearly as user friendly. :) I don't know if Mosby's was specifically for Nurses but Davis is. HTH

I have Davis's too.

I believe I've looked at the one you're talking about though. Same stuff.

Specializes in Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Call Center RN.

I used to use Springhouse, but have used Davis the last few years. I really like the Davis better. It too has a CD. I think whichever one you get make sure that it is the most up to date. I use mine often.

Specializes in OB, lactation.

I asked a classmate at school which one they had for clinicals and she didn't say which, just that she hated the one that they had to get, and she told me to get Mosby's instead. I guess she likes Mosby's. I did get it, it seems good to me so far but I haven't compared it to others.

PS... it came with a CD too, and the book is titled '*Nursing* Drug Reference' (it has Nursing Considerations, Teach Patient/Familly, etc. for each drug). It also has herbal interactions (don't know if they all have that now or not).

Specializes in Home Health, Primary Care.

I have Nursing2004 Drug Handbook (published by Springhouse/Lippincott). It's good to me.

Specializes in Inpatient Acute Rehab.

Davis' Drug Guide is great. It has all you need and is real easy to use.
