I have to be bathed by my classmate???
I stick by my statement 100%. And yes, I do feel those schools, who make you do something you feel uncomfortable and humiliated about(this was the words of the people who had to do it, not me), is completely appaling. Yea, I'd love to hear the name of the supposed big schools. Real big community college in your town? Give me a break. And bathing a patient, is this difficult? I don't think so. Practicing on a manaquin is sufficient for this elementary task.

I have to be bathed by my classmate???
Ok, this post really isn't a complete joke? That is absolutely absurd and insane. There is no way in hell I would ever consider doing this. Why on earth would you as a nurse need to know how a sponge bath feels? Do we not all bathe? That completely crosses the line. Talk about stupidity. Strip down? Wear a bathing suit? Where the hell are you going to school? That's humiliation, and should never be a prerequisite. Good Lord! You should let your moronic instructors know of their stupidity. And if you are properly taught how to give a bed bath, on a manaquin, you will be able to do it. I honestly feel the schools you are attending are complete and utter trash.

How do you study for a comprehensive FINAL Exam?
I don't study all that much for finals. You'd be surprised how much info you retain, especially b/c your previous grades are so good. I just browse through every chapter in the book and read over anything I underlined or marked as important. I also read over notes. Of course some classes are different, and you do forget everything! Good luck, you'll do fine.

What nursing classes are the most difficult
I'm taking Pharmacology this summer. At my school, the hardest class, so I've heard, is Med/Surg 2. Well, now they're changing the name to Adult Health Nursing 2. I've heard that's where everyone screws up. We all say, 1st semester in nurs school is most stressful, 2nd is easiest, 3rd is hardest, and 4th is ok.

nitropaste???
Hey guys, I have to give nitropaste 2% 1" to the leg, tomorrow. I can't find it anywhere, I've looked in 2 drug books. Can anyone help me? My teacher said I'll need to know why it's usually not given on the leg... is there another name for this? That's what the MAR said word for word, and it always have 2 names for the drug. Can anyone help me find what I'm looking for? I must know everything about this drug tomorrow!

nursing diagnosis help
I was wondering if anyone would like to help. Tomorrow i have a patient, 82 y/o woman, with a medical diagnosis of sinus bradycardia and acute gastroenteritis. She was admitted into the ER 3 days ago, with a chief complaint of nausea and vomiting, she came from a nursing home. I'm having trouble with finding 3 nursing diagnoses, along with 3 interventions for each. They're hematoculting stool, and is that just a stool sample? I can't seem to find what this is. She's on telemetry too. With sinus bradycardia...what in the world would the diagnoses be? I honestly can't think of one. W/gastroenteritis, I'm guessing fluid loss and nutrition. Please help!

Tips for starting an IV?
Update...I got it first try baby! It was a lot easier than I thought. And I wasn't nervous at all, and that morning I thought to myself...I'm going to get the first one. And luckily I did.

Tips for starting an IV?
I don't know if you can give me any tips or help, but tomorrow at 6 AM I have to go start IVs. I'm terrified, b/c I'll be by myself, no instructor and no other students. I've had my check off on the fake arm, but it's just different. So..I've heard of blood squirting out everywhere, I've watched my instructor start an IV, and does that just happen if you don't have the tube ready and put it on there real quick? I don't know, any tips on anything would help! The fake arm had blood in it and all, but it just seems different. And, actually getting the needle into the vein, any tips on technique would be great.

Ok all you smarties, need some advice!
oh, one more thing....there's a book called test success for nursing students, or something similiar to that title...I've heard several people here talk about it. And many schools sell it at the campus bookstore. Anyway, I bought it, and it has questions related to Fundamentals. I didn't pick it up until a few weeks ago, and I saw all these Fundamental questions...so now I'm studying it before tests. Some people have difficulty with taking the nursing school tests, those mult. choice questions throw some people off I've noticed, so it'll help. It's a short book too.

Ok all you smarties, need some advice!
Dosage calculations book, like everyone else said. And use dimensional analysis, it's much easier once you figure it out! You have plenty of time to learn how to do the math, so you should do really well on that math test, if you have one. Learn how to do blood pressure, pulse, respirations, easy stuff like that in case you don't know. I would just focus on micro this summer, it's hard at some schools. And definetely relax and enjoy your spare time, b/c soon it will be over :rotfl:

HESI exam
We have to take it after every semester as well. At our school, we can purchase the review book, it costs 15 dollars. Not sure if the review book is for each semester or what though. So, if your school doesn't offer it, try calling another school. Our nurs. school secretary is the person who handles it. I haven't heard it was harder than nclex, or anything from seniors too bad about it. I wouldn't worry if I were you.

Am I the ONLY person who had trouble just making a bed to nursing standards?
lol, no! I'm horrible at it too. I felt like such an idiot. I never even make my bed at home. And we had to learn on sheets, that weren't fitted...like hospitals don't use fitted sheets

If I hear 'C Nurses make the best nurses' one more time I will scream!
lol, never heard that one before. That's crap. All the nursing teachers know you have to pull A's to get into CRNA school! And a lot of other grad programs. Who cares what a dumb professor said. I mean, hello?, common sense here.
