  1. I am an FNP student on my clinicals and most pt. are hispanic, can you please translate the following to spanish thanks..... 1. Hello my name is...... and I am a student from Texas Woman's University. I will be training with the doctor but he will also be seeing you after me to collaborate for you care. 2. How many days have you been sick? 3. Do you have any pain... can you point to it? Does it hurt when you eat? 4. Did you get your flu shot? 5.What medications do you take at home for your illness? Did they relieve your symptoms? Thank YOu
  2. Can anyone give me any links or articles about her work. I looked it up on google and I did not find a lot about her. I also looked up professional articles through CINAHL Plus.
  3. I work at a large cancer center and I read on our website that they were mandating flu shots but I heard some of my co workers signing a waiver. Some of the reasons on the waiver are allergies, scared of needs, or believe that it doesn't prevent the flu. How does your hospital handle the flu vaccine??? I think it is necessary to protect the nurse or the patient. Our patient population have compromised immunity due to the side effects of chemotherapy, their WBC are often low which predisposes them to infections (ie. stem cell pt.).
  4. thanks for the quick feedback
  5. I got everything down from the my own definiton, antecedent, literature, consequence............job satisfaction is the whole concept being analyzed... Its just hard putting these words into scenarios
  6. of course we can I just wanted to know if I missed anything on nursing. we only have 1 week to write this plus I can't realy do much at work. Most of nursing theories are usually borrowed from other diciplines and molded into nursing. Now I am agonizing over my related case.
  7. Hi, I am doing a concept analysis on job satisfation. I am reviewing literature and I cannot find any nursing theorist mentioning it. I found loads on psychology theories. Any suggestions??? I am also stuck on related case. I am trying to tie it to motivation which is related to my concept but not the same. I have a hard time coming up with the scenario...........
  8. houston nursing school may be bogus 08:13 pm cdt on wednesday, july 9, 2008 by rosa flores / 11 news video: rosa flores' 11 news report view larger player more video houston -- for single mom mariciel ferrer, getting an online nursing degree made a lot of sense so she enrolled in the omnibus international college foundation. however, after paying about $1,600 in application and tuition fees, the online school that was supposed to let her earn a licensed vocational nursing degree stopped returning her calls. “i cried when i found out,” ferrer said. the texas higher education coordinating board's investigation unit said in a statement that omnibus “does not have the authority to operate in texas -- not from the texas higher education coordinating board, the texas workforce commissioner or the texas board of nursing.” 11 news went to the houston offices of omnibus international college foundation. “we are not a school,” said rene gaviola, the ceo of omnibus. 11 news: all your materials say that you're a school and so do the posters on the wall. “they always ask (if) we are accredited in the u.s., and we say no,” claimed gaviola, who said the organization doesn't need accreditation because they are only a charity “affiliated” with a school in the philippines. “it's the school in the philippines that will be giving you the certificate,” said gaviola. gerald treece, 11 news' legal expert, said he isn't buying gaviola's answer. “it's consumer protection and preventing consumer fraud,” said treece. “do the people out there in search of their dreams, are they being taken advantage of? “if, in fact, the documentation you get at the end of this exercise is worthless, then i think that's misrepresentation," treece said. ferrer said she wasted her time and money and would love to get her money back. for now, she's hoping to make her nursing dreams come true through a program on the internet.

Hello I work at a melanoma floor and we administer interleukin. It is never administered with steroids or lasix but no one ever explained to me why. I looked it up online but to no avail. I just need the reason why (cellular level). I heard that steroids counter acts the effect of the IL2. Thanks!
  10. The prerequisite were done at a different school from the nursing program. I thought you start clean once you failed one school. That you only send the prerequisites in to the other. The GPA for the prerequisites is about 3.8. Some schools like the one I graduated from base it from the GPA and NET test. I did not know they can check if you previously attended nursing school.
  11. One of my friend failed ADN school. Now she wants to reapply to another nursing school to obtain her BSN. Would the other school know that she flunked nursing school before or should she disclose this to the school that she is applying to?? Could this affect her acceptance to the new school???
  12. I have been calling that number for the Texas BNE but its busy. My dad got a phonecard allready and will start calling people out of the country to say that i passed. I thought I flunked because I stopped at 75 and i didn't even know some of the diseases mentioned or if they gave me a med i know the class but thats it and its select all that apply about the med. I did about 450 questions from the Saunders CD, read the HESI book I bought last semester, and read the notes i took on NCLEX 3500 while preparing for HESI.
  13. no i do not have another lisence as a nurse but I do have one as a CNA. I hope Pearson did not make a mistake grading the test I still did not check the unofficial test results.
  14. I took the NCLEX 2-06-07. On 2-8-07 I checked the Texas BNE and my name was posted under verify lisence. Does this mean I passed??? I can do the quick result but I allready called everyone when I saw my name posted on the Texas BNE website and said I PASSED!....When I checked it how come mine expires 7-31-07 while my friends expiration dates are 2008 or 2009?
  15. 1. What do ya'll do for transportation to and from school: Metro bus, electric rail, car pool or do you drive in to the medical center and park? What works best? (I live on the NW side of houston @ Barker/Hwy 290 area) If that is somewhere in the Cyfair area then I would recommend taking Northwest park and ride or the one of off Little York. I would pick the closest one. Then I would try and meet people from class that live in that area in case we ever need to carpool. I mainly take the park and ride. 2. Are all of the classes offered during the day or are there some classes that are only offered at night? Looking at past schedules it seems that Pathophysiology is only offered during the evening or in the summer. All of the Nursing classes are offered during the day. Patho, if I am not mistaken starts at 5pm. 3. What do you think of the new building? I don't really like the location of the new building because its on a busy street. Plus the bus does not stop infront of it like it did with the old building. The new building does have more restrooms. They made some changes to keep the new building clean by no eating or drinking except water. 4. Are all of the clinicals in the med center or do we have to drive to other facilities in the greater Houston area? not all clinicals are in TMC. For instance, for communities, you might have clinicals in Magnolia, Spring Branch, Cy Fair or in Downtown. 5. Regular back pack or rolly back pack? What works best? When I was a Junior I i bought a rolly back pack and put my books in there. But then I didn't do any reading in the school so I just left my books at home and got a regular back pack. If you want to carry your books or heavy items in school then you might want to invest in a locker.
