Does anyone else hate micro?

Everyone told me psych was hard but I love it. Now micro is a different story UGGGH! I absolutely hate the lecture part!! 2 hours of stuff I don't care about. I do like lab and I just wanted to know how did you get through this class? The tests are brutal & scientific reports a pain in the butt. I guess I just wanted to whine, & see if anyone else hates this class. Got to go study....for what?? micro test! :chair:

It was difficult but I found it extremely interesting and I learned so much during that class. Keep your chin up...it will be over in a few weeks...:)

I hated it too. It was interesting to a point & I really did learn a lot. My beef with the class was my lab instructor. He may as well have been speaking Martian...no one could ever follow his mini-lectures because he'd talk in circles.

Micro was one of my least favorite classes. I was going to say that I disliked Chem even more, but it just won't come out. As much as I disliked Chem the thought of taking Micro again makes me want to run screaming from the room... I would take Chem over Micro if I had to do them over... and as much as I hated Chem that's saying A LOT...

I think how much you like or dislike this class depends wholly on your instructor. I had an instrutor who lived and breathed Micro. She loved it with a passion. Anytime there were long breaks in class, or occasional summers where she could take off. Her and the rest of her Micro buddies were in some far away god forsaken country studying the strange things that mostly you only read about in that book. Once when were going through that one part about the worms in the eye thing ( has been several years since i took micro), they had been somewhere where that was a big presence. And she brought that particular disease into a reality type focus that you just dont find everyday. She made us enjoy micro almost as much as she did. So, it's all in how you are taught I think.

Have A great Day

I took it last semester, as an evening course, which was already a strike against it. Nothing like feeling like you are done for the day after your nursing classes and then having to go back out in the cold later that night. I still drive past the science building this semester and think "OOOOOO! I don't have to go to micro tonight!!"

I can totally relate with the poster who said it was as though the instructor was speaking Martian. Yup. Then of course, there was the guy in the class that would correct the instructor's drawings and explanation of different chemical/DNA bonds and the like :uhoh3: We all wanted to scratch his eyes out :chuckle

Hang in there..this too shall pass.

Oh I am dying in this class!! I studied my butt of for my test & then totally went blank on a few questions. That just drives me crazy when I do that. Also I agree about the instructor part, mine is awful he knows his stuff but his examples are really bad. He was trying to explain the gram stain procedure & I totally had to block him out to keep from being confused!!! Now that is bad. Oh well I will just have to deal with it & make sure I pass, because I would rather eat worms than have to take this class again! 14 more wks to go & I too have a evening class. :uhoh21: Thanks for all the replies.CRB613

I too am in an evening Micro class. 13 more weeks to go. It's okay, the lab experiments we are doing are interesting. Some of the Microbes are interesting. I keep hoping it will get better as we go along. We are only wrapping up week 3. I don't know if I am crazy about this class either. I tell myself it's too early to tell, but I like A & P one alot better. I had to take them both this semester along with two other classes and maybe that is why I am not really in to this class. I am feeling the time crunch taking 4 classes and the pressure of getting A's in all of them in order to be accepted in the nursing program.

Aww... no Micro fans? I wa a huge fan when I tookt he class. I guess it just suited me well. The labs are a lot of fun and its good to see you enjoying them. As far as lecture goes, I agree witht he person above. Kinda depends ont he instructor. What text book are you using too, because that cna make a big difference and you can maybe tune out the boring non-sensical instructor nad read the book. I remember my book was pretty good. I'll look for the title. That might help you out..:-)

Wow...never surprises me how expensive these text books can be. I tried to find the text book I used back when I took the class but forgot that I left it at my parents house for my mother to reference for some of her work. I will call tonight and figure out the author. Might help...
