Bio: A&P I

I'm in A&P I now. I'm in the classroom & I still feel lost a lot of the time. There's just soooo much to learn! I do well. As & Bs. But I still feel like I'm always running & always running behind. I shudder to think about trying to do it online.

I took mine in class-I'm an A student and I got a B in A&P. there is ALOT of information and a lot of work involved. Lab time and interaction w/ fellow students is what got me through the class! Online seems like it would require a lot more study and a lot of self discipline. Plus, what do they do about lab? Good luck whatever you decide! A&P is actually quite fun! :)

I'm thinking about doing A&P online this summer, just so I'll have one less to take come fall. I've taken many online courses, and am very self-disciplined, so they work well for me. I especially like those that I'm able to work ahead in. I just finished my Medical Terminology course about 9 weeks early with a 97%.

I'm taking Human Bio this semester - in a classroom - because I haven't taken a science course since 1981. It is a good pre-req to A&P 1 for me - covering all areas, but not as in-depth. I think doing that will help me if I decide to do it online.

I know that my school I'm going to in the fall does not want me taking it through CCConline though. The head of the Dept. checked it out and wasn't impressed. I don't know why though. I'm thinking about another one. Either that or I'll be spending from 8:30am to 4:30pm each Friday for 11 weeks in a classroom this summer - YUCK!

This is a concern that I had - whether or not it would be frowned upon if I took one of my prereqs (microbiology), through CCConline. I checked with the Director of Student Services, who did approve the class, but since the program is so competitive, I wonder if it would hurt my chances of acceptance, even if I did get an A. Your thoughts?

I'll be taking A&P I online starting in July. I'll also be taking Micro online starting next month. I'm in my second-to-last week of Human Bio online, and it wasn't bad. As long as you study, you can do well, IMO. I really didn't study a TON either - maybe 4 hours a week of reading in preparation for the quiz, and about 2 hours to do my weekly lab or essay. I expect I'll probably have to put in about double that for A&P, though.

I'm taking A&P I in class now, and eventhough I usually do very well with online classes, I can not even imagine doing A&P online! I love sitting in the lab, bones etc. all around me and able to "touch" stuff. Also, smart people--the ones I stick to like glue--can really help you out. we usually "drill" eachother in class, especially before a test. I got a 98% average with only the final left, so I can only advice you to take it "live". :coollook:

I took Human Bio In a class room bc I had not aken it for a long time too. (got a 99%) and It was the easiest class I ever took. The A&PI was much more indepth. The anatomy is like the Human bio class but as for the physiology, that was tough. I worked my bum off and I pulled a B. I am in A&PII now and I am doing better but it also builds on A&PI so be sure to knwo what you are doing by the end of A&PI. I take Micro Bio this summer alson with intro to Lit. I had to choose a 2nd eng. elective so I chose intro to Lit. as it seems to be the esiest class to take. I do not want a lot of research papers to do for a class other than Micro. I have had research papers during Both A&PI and II but not for those classes. It was for the filler classes the school makes you take. I hate that. I am working hard enough with the health classes I do need for nursing and I only take the filler classes bc they are required and I always end up with research papers in the filler classes. grr.. Sorry for ranting. was on my mind and I feel better now. :) :uhoh21:

for anyone taking Human Bio and have not taken A&P yet, please understand that A&P is sooo very different than Human Bio. They are nothing alike and A&P is so much harder. I got a 99% in human bio without trying very hard and then in A&P i had to work my tail off to get a B. I have never gotten anything below an A yet in my college career before A&PI. I am in A&PII now and pulling a B hope to bring it to an A b4 the semster is over but I am working very, very hard. If I get a B in A&PII then the A&P classes will be the only classes in my transcript with less than an A. That ia=s how tough it is. (for me at least and I do well in everything else) I jsut don't want anyone thinking that bc human bio is easy for you you feel taht it will be just as easy for A&P and taking it online should be fine. I'm saying from experience taht taking it in the classroom is so much better as you get interaction with other students who can quiz you for exams and you can learn a lot from others and the prof. :)

Those in my college in A&P rigth now are putting in 80 hrs a week in study time to get the A's they deserve. Those putting in less than 80 are getting a B average or lower and most are lower. I put in about 40-50 a week and I am getting a low B rigth now. It is tougher than Human Bio.

80 hours a week STUDYING? For ONE 4-credit class? I'm sorry, that's just ridiculous. I'll gladly take a B or even a C if the alternative is spending 14 hours a day STUDYING for one stinking class.

My Human Bio instructor said, at the beginning of the semester, to plan on spending 10-14 hours/week studying if we want to do well. Like I mentioned earlier, I spend about 5 hours a week studying and I'm pulling a 92% with 2 weeks left in the course.

I'm skeptical that I would need to spend more than 2 hours a day studying for A&P in order to get a good grade. I'm even willing to put in 3 hours/day. But certainly not 14 hours/day.
