Threatened when I tried to leave job

Please help. I obtained a job doing post hospitalization visits to elderly people who have a certain type of Medicare . It was through an agency. Well it was a nightmare. I was only paid if I actually did the visit. Well they gave a list of a little under 20 patients. When I tried to schedule visits two had died, phone were disconnected, and messages never returned. I have spent hours for no compensation. I told the agency I was done. The director threatened me she said that she would report med to Medicare/ Medicaid and my board of nursing if I didn't complete a long form in each patient that I could not see. Mind you I will not be compensated for any of this.

she said that I accepted a responsibility when I was emailed the list of patients. I am scared. I don't know what to do. Can I be reported when I have never even seen a patient. Has anyone ever been threatened in this manner?

RUN! If you are not being compensated, then you should not be doing the work. That's ridiculous and a TERRIBLE agency. Wow.

You should report the agency to Medicare for demanding that you complete paperwork on unseen or dead patients. That's fraud. Report them to the department of labor for failing to compensate for time worked.

Thanks for the replies. She just got so nasty. Said if I didn't have forms emailed to her by 5 pm tomorrow that she would report me to board of nursing and Medicare. I am not sure for what?

Can they demand I fill out forms with no compensation? They made me do training for an hour with no compensation.taking this job was one of the dumbest things ever.

Sounds like you'll be in a heap of trouble for failing to provide care for dead people. Obviously this director is not a nurse--or let's hope not. If so, she can finish your job.

I wonder if they knew some of the members would be dead or unreachable and that's why you are only compensated for those you contact? They get their files cleaned up for free. You do a lot of work for no compensation.

Sounds like just the job that no one wants. Run!

Tell her when she threatens you again that you are going to report her and the agency to your state Department of Labor for forcing you to go through training without compensation, and that they are now threatening your license when you submitted your resignation, telling you that you had to complete patient paperwork without being compensated.

Don't beat up on yourself. You had no idea what a hot mess this place would be.

Don't let this woman bully you. Does this agency have a Corporate Compliance line/officer? I would give them a call as well.

You didn't even get paid for training?! Absolutely refuse to do anything else and report them to the Department of Labor for not paying you for the calling or training. Ugh, this sounds like a terrible company.
