Teaching paediatric resuscitation to nurses

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello everyone 😊

I was asked to devise a paediatric basic life support course for nurses working with children. Can anyone give me an example or some ideas please.

Much appreciated

Are you in the US? Your spelling of paediatric says not likely. However, you can always look at AHA recommendations or whatever organization develops the CPR recommendations in your country.

Google PALS and ENPC.

Is this for school? If not, surely it is a reinvention of the wheel, no?

That's exactly what I was thinking. BLS and PALS both already cover pediatric resusc.

Unless OP is not in the US, which looking at how she spelled paediatric makes me think she isn't. What nurses in another country can do may differ greatly from BLS and PALS.

also look at PEARS, it is meant to be a lead in to PALS. It's not necessarily a resus course but more about recognising emergency situations. Either way look at the American Heart Association or American Academy of Pediatrics for guidance.
