Sounds like a lot of finger pointing going on here. Why would a club have a 'don't ask don't tell' policy regarding pyros if they didn't have a sprinkler system? Negligent if ya ask me. They should get promises in writing from bands to avoid liability IMHO.

Both the club and the band are to blame here but they are trying to turf responsibility to the other.

Gotta feeling this will be the end of the club/owners and the end of the band as well when the victims' lawyers are through. And rightfully so...absolutely no concern for human life here.

I have several friends who work in hospitals who received victims of the Chicago nightclub disaster, and their descriptions of the scenes in the ER/ICU areas was heartbreaking. What a tragic loss of life that could have been avoided so easily! Same thing with the fire in Rhode Island--another senseless loss of life that could have been avoided. :crying2:

Something needs to change so that these kinds of things don't happen again. Of course, for clubowners, it comes down to the almighty buck and turning a profit, but it should never be at the expense of human life or people's safety.

Addendum: I should also add entertainers to the sentence about clubowners......I realize some clubowners are responsible in how they run their clubs and that the entertainment may be the source of the problem.

According to reports from other club owners who aren't connected with this club that burned, this band has a history of pyrotechnics without getting permission/clearance.

I am originally from Rhode Island, moved down to Virginia last June. My entire family is still there. Fortunately all in my family are safe however, two good friends of the family are missing. My cousin and her fiancee both work at RI hosp. They have been very busy...haven't gotten to talk to them yet about how it is there.

From what everyone at home is telling me, the entire state is in shock (granted we are a small state) but everyone just can't stop talking about it.

So very sad.
