NELRP 2009

I applied for the 2009 NELRP. I did not expect to hear from HRSA until September (IF I received an award). However, I was contacted by HRSA yesterday (June 15, 2009). They asked me to obtain pay off information for a few of my loans --- they had been unsuccessful with getting the info for those loans on their own, but did get the pay off amounts on other loans.

I asked the HRSA representative if this was a "good sign" and she responded that she could not confirm funding, but I am a "first funding preference" and "within range" (I think most who apply are "within range").

Questions: Has anyone else heard from HRSA this early?

Thanks!

I just did the calculations...Drumroll please...this is really depressing. My debt to income ratio for BSN loans only = 232%. I pay about $1100 a month in student loans. I work at a Disproportionate Share Hospital in Anderson, IN. I am dying to know. I knew my percentage was up there, but goodness gracious. Good luck to everyone! Please put your updates on here so we can compare notes!

I haven't got a call about my payoff amounts, just one verifying my residency, employment, and banking info. In the message, the lady said she was pleased to inform me that they were beginning the award phase, but when I called back they wouldn't verify that this meant I would be getting an award. They just gave me a number to call if I had any changes in my information before September. What I am wondering is does everyone get called or just those they are planning on awarding? I've been reading posts of past years and I think a phone call is a good sign but not all people who get awarded receive phone calls. My debt/income ratio is around 150% and I work at a disproportionate share hospital in Nashville, TN. If anyone has anymore insight, please share!

Just received the call tonight to verify my info, etc. I asked about the notification time frame. She said those awarded will be notified in September and thos who are not will be notified in October. I was hoping she would say "next week"! LOL

Ok, now I am a bit more worried. We were contacted in June for our payoff amounts, but haven't heard a word about verifying our other info. Hhmmm....this is so nerve racking. Andrea

I was just contacted at 6:30 yesterday- so don't give up hope! :wink2:

I received a phone call to verify my information. They also asked if I was still interested in receiving funding. OF COURSE!!! She gave me a phone number to call if any of my information changes. I wasn't even thing about this until she called. Now I am fixated!!! I hope this is a good sign!!!!

I've wouldn't worry just yet. I've been reading posts from last year and some people who got awards weren't contacted at all and others weren't contacted to verify their information until September. It doesn't seem extremely consistent but I think any kind of contact is a good sign. If you weren't being considered, I don't think you would be contacted.

I too heard from NELRP last night (07/17/09). They verified banking account information; employment, and gave me a number for an NELRP analyst to call if there are any changes. This is now the 2nd time I have heard from them this month. 1st time being July 2. I really hope this is good news for me. My loan debt/salary ratio is about 300%. I work for a disproportionate hospital in Louisiana in the school based health department (for low income children who couldn't otherwise afford healthcare). Guys, I really hope this is good news for me. Good luck to everyone. I know we all need it.

I was contacted friday evening and returned the call today to confirm my info. How early do they notify the recipients??
