How do you deal with difficult nurses?
I am a new grad that was blessed with the opportunity to work in the CICU in a world-renowned hospital. I have been working for 3 months. The orientation was extremely challenging, and often wondered if I was going to make it (many new nurses do not). I made mistakes naturally, but was told overall that I a very good job. I just started my first week off orientation. I had a very warm and knowledgable preceptor. Most of the nurses were very nice and willing to help or answer questions.Unfortunately, there are some that are not as nice. It has come to my attention that I have become the topic of many negative discussions. The people holding these discussions are the main ones telling me that I am doing okay. Now, I am a big girl and have had some previous experience working with negative people. I used to sales in my previous life. Nothing more cut throat than that. But I was hoping that I would get away from such behavior because we are all working for the same goal, to help the patient. I am being ripped to shreds for stuff that does not affect patient outcome. For instance, I didn't set up the IV the way that they liked. Or yesterday I didn't clamp the foley all the way( different foley set up form ours). Granted it made a mess, but it shouldn't have been a topic for 12 hours!!! I just don't know how to deal with these women. I have a very low tolerance for simple BS and I am afraid that if I really tell them about themselves that I might make my situation more difficult. I am trying to do my joband learn as much as I can, not make friends. However, I do want a pleasant working environment. Any ideas?

Should I be worried?
Hey gang! When I applied for my license, I disclosed a felony obtained 10 years ago. I sent in my personal summary and the information regarding the case. I checked the BON website to check the status and saw my name on the BON website with a pending application. I did not have any difficulties getting a job at a very good hospital and finally received my ATT (about a week after everyone else in my class). I rechecked the BON website and my name is no longer listed!! I called to find out if there is a problem and I was told that my application is in the Compliance dept., but I was allowed to take the test. I am very confused by this. Does this mean that I can take the test but won't get my license? Should I be worried? :uhoh21:

New Grad.Wants OB/Labor-Delivery in Cleveland
I did my clinicals and practicum at Fairview. It is a very nice hospital. Recently they did hire a lot of new grads, but the rumor mill states that they are having some difficulties. They might limit the new grads like they did in their critical care areas. UH is hiring for both L&D and mother/baby and they accept new grads. Good luck.

Cleveland Clinic Questions
I have thought about MetroHealth. When I talked to the recruiter, she told me that new grads were not allowed to enter certain critical care areas. I wish to get some experience and then go to Metro's ER. I did take the CCF position. I start in October. Wish me luck!!

Loans for nursing school?
I have SallieMae loans. It is easy to apply, but the interest rate can vary depending on if you get a Signature loan or Tuition Answer loan. The website address is listed in the above post. I also heard of a TERI loan. My classmates say that they are pretty good too. Good luck!!
