Theroretical Framework--How to introduce in paper?
I am writing my scholarly project paper on the risk for hyperlipidemia in high school students and am utilizing Orem's Self Care Deficit Theoretical Framework. My question is, how do I introduce to use of this theoretical framework into my paper? According to the requirements there is a section listed "Theoretical Framework" I know that I am not supposed to just enter a sentence stating..."i utilized ...framework"...right? if you can provide an example please do so. Thanks!

NELRP 2009
I too heard from NELRP last night (07/17/09). They verified banking account information; employment, and gave me a number for an NELRP analyst to call if there are any changes. This is now the 2nd time I have heard from them this month. 1st time being July 2. I really hope this is good news for me. My loan debt/salary ratio is about 300%. I work for a disproportionate hospital in Louisiana in the school based health department (for low income children who couldn't otherwise afford healthcare). Guys, I really hope this is good news for me. Good luck to everyone. I know we all need it.

NELRP 2009
I haven't head anything back yet. Just waiting. I am currently 2 months behind on my student loans trying to make sure they don't default and disqualify me. My loans cost me about 1200/month and I only make 2400/month before any other bills, mortgage, daycare, etc. I understand the person who commented earlier...I can't believe the situation that I am in. I just KNEW I would make more money and be more comfortable. In the area I live in.....nurses make on average 18.00/hr.....25.00/hr if you work nights...which I can't do because of my 2 small children...good luck to everyone!!!

NELRP 2009
Hey Michelle, I received a voicemail and email from a HRSA representative yesterday requesting my pay off amounts. I am really hoping that this is good news. I mean...I sent them my loan balances in the application so I figure this is a good thing for me that they are actually taking the time with my application to verify them...My loans are $119,000!! and payments ranging at about 1200.00/month..(depending on the interest rate).I only make $2400.00/month! Can you believe that kind of salary for an RN?? Good Luck!! Cheryl

Help Opening Ambulatory Chemotherapy Clinc
I am hoping someone will read this and will be able to help me. I am an RN responsible for assisting a physician in opening his oncology practice. I wasn't supposed to be however the other nurse resigned her application due to personal reasons. In any event, I am in a dilemna. I need as much information as one can give. This office is BRAND NEW! nothing in place except the companies policy and procedures (no oncology specific) I need: nurse's notes/phsical assessment chemo flow sheets oncology policy & procedure supplies needed to administer various chemotherapy drugs (don't know what they will be yet--but don't want to be caught without availaible supplies) Emergency standard protocol for chemo patients I will be mixing chemo as well and administering it. I think you get the picture. I need everything. I am a nurse with an ER background (I can handle the situation if it arises, but just don't know common CA patients situation at the top of my head). There was an OCN that was going to be hired and she was going to be responsible for this but.....that didn't happen...and now it is me. I did take a chemo/biotherapy course...however I have only orientated by administering a few chemo drugs at another hospital..never mixed. This is a clinic setting and totally different (the pharmacy mixed the drugs at the hospital) anyone willing to help me or direct me in the way of resources will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Why no Union in Louisiana for Nurses?
:angryfire I extern at a hospital here in Southwest Louisiana. I went to work last night and asked one of the nurses, "Why is there no union for nurses here in Louisiana?" She immediately told me, "don't let anyone hear you say that! I asked her why, and she told me, "because if they hear you talking about a union, they'll fire you!" I was so disturbed by that comment. She has been a nurse at that hospital for I know over 20 years so I am sure she knows what she is talking about. I also would take her advice because she is one of the more "opinionative nurses that doesn't hold her tongue about issues." So now my question is....how do you avoid the threat of being fired when mentioning or trying to form a union???"

Why no Union in Louisiana for Nurses?
I am currently a BSN nursing student in Louisiana. I will be graduating in May 2005 and I have a concern about working conditions. I have been hearing a lot about "unions" lately. I've never given much thought about it before, but what I have learned is that sometimes being apart of a union may have an impact on your working conditions. Well, the working conditions are no better here then they are anywhere else and I was just wondering why there is no union for nurses in the state of louisiana??? I also had a question about starting one and how to go about doing so. I read that California nurses joined a union and now they have mandatory nurse patient ratios. I have been doing a little research and it appears that it is "easy" to start a union being that you are protected by federal law and all....but the question is......why isn't there a union for Louisiana nurses,....and if it makes things so much better, why hasn't anyone else started one here? If you have any imput on this, it would be greatly appreciated...doesn't matter from what state you're writing from. I just desperately want information on this issue. If there is a union in Louisiana for nurses to participate in, I haven't come across it yet,, but if you know about one, please share that information. Thanks
