Considering that I (& every other nurse I know) was "added" by nursing FB friends to the stethoscope group & never actually joined, that number is probably grossly exaggerated. Half or more are just passive bystanders.

Hold on there. I agree there are weaknesses and problems in US healthcare, but it's kind of ridiculous to refer to a "total lack of oversight and accountability in US hospitals." I would love to see more, better, oversight (Joint Commission is a joke, in my opinion and experience), but I assure you hospitals are pretty heavily regulated and overseen now. IMO, making medodramatic and hyperbolic statements like this doesn't really help a cause. "Inadequate" oversight and accountability? Sure. "Total lack of" oversight and accountability? Even the average adult member of the general public would recognize that is an exaggeration.
