Just curious if anyone had to do this test for their job?

Some things about me: I just graduated college, i played a sport in college, i'm physically fit (I run 3 miles every day) But i FAILED their physical capacity test! I have 1 more chance to retake it.

Has anyone else ever had to take this test? If so did you pass or is there any advice you could give?

Learn better body mechanics. Talk to a physical therapist. I am old and learned how to lift properly while working with horses years ago. I can still throw a 50lb sack of horse feed or dog food better than most men.

It wasn't about like "lifting" exactly... like you know those grip strength tests where you squeeze as hard as you can? That's what is was for everything, i had to do Pinching, grip strength, try and turn my wrist to the right and left, "dead lift" and pull up on a bar that didn't move, pinch down on a bar that didn't move, etc.

I never had a lift test like that...I lifted a box that was 50lbs and passed; and was tested on body mechanics like using lifts and transfers.

This clarifies exactly what I had to do

I think they are missing the last test of the video. It is the "Kiss my Butt" test. You bend over and touch your toes while Test Administrator kisses your butt.

That is ridiculous to have to be tested like that. If you failed and you are young and fit, how is the older nurses suppose to pass?

If I were asked to perform such a task, I would ask how such a task would be relevant to my job.

If the person assessing my ability was able to provide a reasonable answer, I would respond by saying "I actually don't want this job. Sounds too physically demanding." I would then leave.

If there wasn't a reasonable answer and I knew the labor market wasn't favorable to employers, I would weasel my way out of the lifting requirement.

I agree.granted I probably didn't try my absolute hardest because I had the exact same thought "I'm young and healthy there's no way I can fail this! Lol! .... and then I did. :woot:
