See who got busted for calling herself a nurse.
NC nursing board scolds Republican Beverly Boswell for claiming to be a nurse. | News & Observer
Probably had nothing to do with the money aspect. Knowing nurses have high regard in the community and her story about her struggle to become one. Gotta have a great story to run and win.
Yep, plus I'm betting it was one of the reasons she was placed on so many health-care related committees. I don't for a minute believe she didn't know what was on her media.

I agree. She intentionally misled the public. Nurses are held in high esteem and the average person would likely be more impressed by seeing "RN" than phlebotomist. Let's be real. She knew exactly what she was doing. And when busted, she gave the same lame excuse all people who fudge their credentials do: deflect blame.
Do these idiots not know it is public information? Hell I do it with my patients that say they are a nurse.
Oh, I am absolutely petty enough to look at license verifications for PITA family members who say they're nurses. A few of them actually have been, but mostly it's the "I work in healthcare so I'm a nurse."

We had a phlebotomist at a facility I worked at who totally said she was a nurse on her Facebook. When called on it (HR wasn't amused), she claimed she meant she worked in the "nursing department" (true) but picked the wrong option. People who are caught in their lies will always scramble for excuses.
She lied about being a nurse, because we are the most respected profession. It was using our profession, for political gain.
I'm not sure that we are the "most respected profession." However, I can understand that she was most likely hoping for some gain in her career by claiming to be a nurse.
