Learning more Spanish than "dos cervezas, por favor"

Hello! I am in my first RN job and I spend a lot of time outside of work reading up on things from my week, like drugs and procedures I need to know better.

I do not have the time or energy to put a lot of effort into learning Spanish right now, but it is a long term goal of mine.

Does anyone have any experience with self-paced programs? I welcome any recommendations and suggestions.

I was just reading the international forum, and there are "immersion" classes for like a month in Spanish speaking areas like Guatemala, etc. Fairly inexpensive too compared to tuition here in the states. Getting there is the biggest expense.

Of course I cant do this, but it sounded like something I would want to do.I have taken 2 years of Spanish many years ago, but if you don't actually converse in it , you forget it.

There are Spanish for healthcare workers offered at many facilities.

Me? I used Cyracom. Looking to get one here.

Lots of my students are from El Salvador and Honduras.

They usually pick up English by Christmas. Amazing.

It's communicating with their parents that's the problem.

Try the website Duolingo. It's free and pretty good for vocabulary and pronunciation. Not so great for learning grammar, though.
