Just a quick question regarding applications..

I have and did both ! Face to face interaction is always good in my opinion. It gives employers to get a visual impression of you and sometimes that wonderful personality don't come across in an online application.

You are a 1.5 year LPN with no acute care experience. That does not look well on paper. Say the other resumes are LPNs with 5 year LTC or 2 year acute, who would you pick? If I were you, I would go in person and sell myself. With the Internet, they know nothing about you or your rep at your current facility. So, go in person and show them why, they want you. Good luck. As a new grad LPN I started out just faxing my resume to various job postings online. I finally got smart and started to call the places a few days after my resume was sent to ask if they received my resume and when they might be scheduling interviews. One of the places I called I got right through with the hiring manager and she put me on hold, found my resume and asked me to come in for an interview the next day. It went good but after a couple of weeks I had not heard anything back so I started driving to various places and giving them my resume face to face. I got one interview and no job offer from my face to face meetings. Then a month after my interview with the hiring manager I got a job offer. So basically face to face didn't go anything but give me interview experience, which was helpful. I do think that face to face can be very helpful in getting a job though :)

ive done both.. i have been graduated for 5 months now with no luck.. face to face is better however ur basically dealing with hr and not the actual managers.

Thanks! This is exactly what I was thinking. My resume doesn't look good on paper having had no acute care experience other than clinicals. However at my SNF we have acute patients, have lots of people on IVFT, IVABX, lots of PICCs, PEGs, trachs, wound changes and wound vacs, etc. Should I speak of this when I apply?

Absolutely and why in person is so important. You will then be able to state how much experience you really do have. All the skilled procedures you mentioned above, as well as your letters of reference, will show them a much larger picture, than a resume. Add in your articulate thought and personality, now, you are in a position, to win them over. In person, you are also a person. Instead of a resume in space, they have a face, manner of dress and poise, which is important. Good luck! I bet you get it too! Peace!
