Is it common for nurses to wear squeaky shoes

So, I'll be starting nursing school soon and I found a pair of shoes that a I really like; the only problem is that they squeak when I'm walking on linoleum. Do a lot of other nurses wear shoes that squeak? I don't want to be stared at for having squeaky shoes; I feel like that'd be embarrassing. I know that I'm probably just worrying too much and that this question seems a bit asinine, but still...

Also, does anyone have any suggestions for comfortable shoes (for people that have flat feet) that don't squeak.

I think the only way people would care is if you plan on working nights. If there's not any danger of waking people up because of your shoes, no one's going to care.

I recently found a great pair of shoes and then half way through the shift, they started to squeak. I could not stand the sound, nor the feeling of this squeaking. No one else complained or even seemed to notice. But I had to give up the shoes for my own sanity.

Is it on all floors? Sometimes after floors are freshly waxed my shoes squeak more

I used to have squeaking shoes caused from the insole rubbing against the shoe. A little baby powder every so often solves that problem. My shoes do tend to squeak on freshly waxed or buffed floors, but it usually only takes a day for all the newness to wear off from all of the foot traffic.

Maybe you notice the squeaking more than those around you? Why not ask someone what they hear when you walk around in them.

OMG, my shoes are crazy with squeaking! At first I thought I had stepped in something sticky. Then I noticed that all the nurses and techs shoes were doing the same thing...didn't matter if they were sneakers or Dansko's.

We all realized its not our shoes, its the floors. Something with the wax or cleansers they use make the shoes squeak. My shoes do not squeak like this when I walk on the floor in my house in the entry way...only at work.

Bad thing, I work nights. I found that if I enter a patients room by walking/leaning on the outside of the shoe so that the whole bottom of the shoe doesn't touch, the squeaking can almost all but be eliminated.

I had to retire my Alegria's because of the squeaky factor. It was annoying even me at 0200.

They have been using a new product on our floors and we are all squeaking now! It is pretty funny lol
