Interim Permit

Hi,

I recently graduated with my BSN about a week ago. I applied for NCLEX and the interim permit on the week of April 1 and am currently waiting for my ATT. I live in California where it takes them forever to process the applications. On the BRN website it shows the processing times. They are currently processing March 1-15, 2016 and it states that it takes 10-12 weeks to process BOTH THE NCLEX APPLICATION AND THE INTERIM PERMIT. It has been exactly 12 weeks to this date and they are processing applications one month behind. I applied for the interim permit so that I could work prior to taking NCLEX. If they are both being processed at the same speed, by the time I would get my interim permit I would have already taken NCLEX. It doesn't make sense to me why they would even give you the option of applying for an interim permit if it's just going to be received the same time you take NCLEX. Does this only happen in the state of California? I want to cancel my interim permit, would I be able to get a refund? Thanks.

It says fees are non-refundable on the application, itself. They even underlined "non-refundable", so I'd say you're not getting anything back.

Keep in mind that once you get your ATT, that doesn't mean you'll be able to take the NCLEX that same day -- there may be a delay until you can get a testing spot. All those other applications being processed right now are also taking up NCLEX testing appointments.

Hi,

I live in California as well and sent my information to the boards and requested an interim permit. The BRN received my application on March 28. My permit posted yesterday, however I haven't gotten my ATT. Four of my friends recieved their ATT last Thursday and Friday, we all sent our applications in around the same time. I'm assuming yours should be processed soon.

Hi, i also applied for the Interim permit here in california. I just got a notification that it was approved and i got my license number. Does the approval for the IP also mean that im also qualified to take the nclex after they process my papers?

Ugh ...replied to a zombie thread. Deleted.
