How do you become a Moderator for this site??

Nurses General Nursing

I was just curious.I just came across a few posts created by super Moderators ..soo uhmmm...yeah... How does one become a SUPER MODERATOR?

New people don't know our history, which is why I have nevered liked the curt "Do a search, this thread is closed!" approach. Unfortunately, as you know now it is not necessary every few weeks to discuss the same inflammatory topics.

i just noticed there is now, a sticky for the adn/bsn debate, so any newcomers will have to refer to that.

i wonder if this is the start of a trend towards other hot topics.

while in theory i agree with this, it does take away the 'spirit' of debate for the newbies who may have something to say.

and while they can always post a comment to any of the old but still-opened threads, it still does not encourage the input that a new thread would.

afterall, most have had their say already and it's old news (for those of us who have been here awhile).

i was wondering if a forum should be implemented, reserved for the new members who have these questions- you know, those threads that are perpetually being pondered...so when the ubiquitous rn/lpn, adn/bsn, etc questions are brought to the board, a mod can move it to that particular forum....just a thought.

Leslie, the threads will probably still get long, tedious saying the same thing over and over, with lots of angry posts. No matter what forum it's in and it sucks the life out of the mods and usually leads no where, as you know.

However, I too have the some of the same feelings as you and have voiced an opinion or two about it. I think the ADN vs. BSN thread is dead for sure. Other topics like obese nurses not being good role models (many looooooong threads about that) and nursing eating their young are still being pondered.

I'm sure the administrators will carefully consider your suggestion and I have no say so whatsoever. LOL. :)

i think one needs to be careful about a slippery slope- but that is something i would only discuss with brian.

i truly hope that allnurses doesn't turn into site scattered with automatic links for various, repetitive topics.

it very much takes away from the spontaneous and personal interactions between its' members.

say good noc leslie. :)

I'd keep it in perspective Leslie, of the 1000's of topics there's only two I know that are linked: the BSN debate and the "I have a criminal past, can I be a nurse" question, other boards I don't moderate or read might have others, I'm not sure.

Lively mature debate is encouraged, however, you know as well as I do, some topics, (a few, and only a few out of the thousands of topics being discussed) are guaranteed to turn into a flame fest.

Don't worry, what you fear is not in the works at all. I hope I didn't give you that impression.

i'm sure you don't mean to talk down to me by "keeping it in perspective".

i merely stated that i noticed something and hope it wasn't a start of a trend.

if you care to chastise me, please do so via pm.

and yes tweety, we all know "lively debate is encouraged".

heard it a million times.

perhaps we can make that phrase into a link....

Karen gave you the link above: https://allnurses.com/forums/f128/ This is the administators site seen only by them...Don't be embarrassed about your earlier threads and posts. Tweety- you really ARE the nicest! So glad they 'promoted' you to Moderator; you help foster good vibes on these threads and yet still maintain a 'participant' attitude (that means a hint of rebellion and humor is still present in your posts and you haven't adopted a 'holier-than-thou' demeanor!).:yeah:
