How do you reward you...

What do you do that is just for you...

I was walking down a hall with a nurse that I've worked with off and on for a few years and she told me, "Did you get called in yesterday? I called in, I wasn't really sick but... Oh my god I just couldn't come in and had to take a day for myself! I spent the whole day at the gym... A mental health day, you know what I mean... Do you ever get like that?"

hmmmm I guess the answer would have to be YES!!! What I do is to get on here and vent! Okay seriously, Of course I enjoy my patients and they give me a great deal of satisfaction but I think it is important to reward ourselves too... Even if all you can afford to do, (moneywise/timewise), is to stop by Godiva and buy yourself one piece of chocolate for $5 bucks that you take to your car and eat yourself while you think, "I'm worth it, I deserve it and this is my reward!" Then that's what you should do! As nurses we are always thinking about everyone else and we tend to forget ourselves... Remember to reward you! Okay, now it's time for me to get offline and go pick up my new 1912 arts and crafts library table that I am going to use for my computer, I was just able to get it out of lay-a-way after two months, MY REWARD!!! but now where will I sit my coffee....hmmmm

Do something today that is just for you...

Vacations!!! I plan a trip I will probably not take for years with books and videos from the library. I am taking one this winter that I have been daydreaming about forever!

Also recently started shopping. I am a watch fanatic.

Massage at least once a month. It is worth every penny!!

Nursegoodguy, it sounds as though you might have to start looking for an antique stand or table to set your coffee on! You know, one good thing leads to another!

Unfortunately, I usually like to buy something to treat myself-nothing expensive, and usually things for my house or things that my husband and I can share. Last night I bought new makeup. That was a treat!

During the summer I go to the beach, alone, with my favorite book. Once a week I take a walk with a friend I can vent to and also talk about something other than work.

During the winter I go to the mall or shopping somewhere. Even if I buy shampoo, it is for me because I deserve it. Sounds crazy I know but works.

Everyday I come to this BB, works like a charm. Love to hear all the stories and what is going on everywhere else. :wink2:

I love to buy a special scented candle and a new book or magazine along with something from "Bath and Body" then go home and soak in the tub until I look like a prune. If I feel like I really want to treat myself I may even buy a new CD to listen to. When I get out I put on some cozy sweats and curl up on the couch and drink my mug of tea and read. Of course it helps to have some chocolate too. We all need to take care of ourselves in some special way.

When I lived by the ocean in California, I spent a lot of time there relaxing. I'd eat lunch there, lay out and get a tan there, read a book there, pray and have devotions by the ocean, run on the beach, walk the beachpath set up for walkers.... I love the ocean.

Now that I live in hot and muggy Texas, I relax by staying in the house a lot where it's airconditioned, listen to soft music, soak in a bubble bath, and pray to get laid before I fall to sleep. :chuckle :roll :p

Cheerfuldoer, ain't that the truth!!!

I should own stock in Bath and Body Works.

Get laid... get laid... why does that sounds so familiar?

Howdy yall

Aint nothing wrong with a mental health day or 2, we all need some form of comfort now and again. We are human after all. Me I need a nice weather day and a good round of golf to take care of my inner self.

I go and spend some time with my 2 year old nephew. His absolute amazement at the small things in this world always puts things into perspective for me.

He gets so excited about the littlest things. Yesterday, he was so excited because he discovered the knob that turned on the windshield wiper on the back window. If only I could get excited about the little things in life.

I ride roller-coasters!!!!! A bubble bath in the jetted tub with a good book does wonders as well!!!
