Gift from nursing students

Hi all,

So clinicals are almost over, and the nurses at this unit at this hospital have just been wonderful. They've been so nice and I wanted to do something for them. There's about 6 regulars nurses on the days we have been there. I figured there are 8 of us nursing students in the group and we can all chip in to do something for them. Any suggestions?

We brought lunch. I made a crock pot of meatballs and brought fresh rolls so they could eat at their leisure. Someone brought fruit, dessert, salad, veggies.

Awwwww yiss, food is definitely the way to go, lol. The one poster was extra cool suggesting homemade stuff, and I think people are always happy to see some healthy options (e.g., fruit like in an Edible Arrangement, fresh veggies, etc.). The standby of coffee and doughnuts is always good too.

Thank you ladies! (Or gentlemen?) Food it is! That meatball lunch sounds so good, but so does the Edible arrangements, and others....I think I'll see if my clinical group will chip in for a variety of things to thank them:)

Food is your safest bet. Non-edible gifts would likely be frowned upon because of hospital policies regarding receiving gifts (they can vary widely by institution, so what flies at Hospital X may be a no-go at Hospital Y). But I've yet to see food being turned down...nor does management seem to mind if bagels and coffee appear.

Keep mind that if you are going to bring in food, it's either for ALL the nurses on the unit, or don't bring it. So be sure that there's enough for everyone, not just your favorite 6.

Pens! Nurses love pens. Chat up the administration of your school, they might give you a bunch with school logos, chip in and buy a bunch.

Pens are never a bad gift.

Yes, I like pens.

Food! Either a potluck lunch (provided by the students) for ALL the nurses or donuts in the break room.
