getting deployed

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Ok folks... Im back for now. We just got processed for deployment. I got all my shots... Anthrax, yellow fever, ect. But then, they pulled us into a room, one by one, and asked for volunteers to go. Of course, I said HELL NO!! that dont mean that Im not going, just the ones that said yes get pulled first. so far, 5 out of our 30 person unit is going. SO FAR. Anyway, good to be back after 2 weeks, and would like to thank everyone for their support and prayers. IT WORKED!!!

Well its official... For those of you who dont know me, Im a nursing student, and a soldier in the army national guard. I just got ordered today to active duty. I leave on Tues. It sucks because Im so close to being done, and will have to quit school. Meaning, This whole semester wasted, start over another time. Sucks again, because I have two little ones (2yrs old and 4 yrs old) and an active duty army husband, whos not going anywhere, but works 16 hr days. (p.s. its 11:41... hubby still not home from work.)

Guess Im just frustrated and scared. Not for what Ill be doing, (im a nurse in the guard), but for my kiddos. Will miss them much. They are too little to understand that Im coming back eventually, dont want them to think I deserted them, and my 4 yr old sees all the war stuff on tv.

Anyway.. I will return and check in with everyone... Probley change my name to "nurse-n-boots" lol.... Wish me luck!!!! :o

God Bless you and God Bless America.

Thank you for protecting us! We are grateful for all that you do!

Our hospital has had a general surgeon and a few nurses deployed within the past week.

God Bless! Stay safe!:nurse:

Thank you (all of you military peoples!) for doing something so wonderful and something that I'm not sure I do have or would have the guts to do. May God bless you all and keep you all safe. Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

Hugs and prayers.

God Bless You!

You are not forgotten--we are praying for all who serving our country.

It's good to see a fellow Okie on the Allnurses board! Although not under these circumstances:o . I just got out of the Army in August, was stationed in Ft. Carson, CO. I know how you feel! You, as well as your family, will be in my prayers.

p.s.

Where are you attending school for nursing?

You and all our military personnel will be in my prayers.

I hope the worst does not happen.

If it does as a nurse you will not be required to be near bomb sites. Please stay far away and encourage others not to "sight see".

Depleted uranium, chemical, and biological agents may have been the targets. A Navy Nurse told me that is a possible cause of Gulf War syndrome.

God bless us all.

Thank you and all military. We live in the land of the free because of people who are willing to sacrifice their time and risk their lives so that we can choose what church to attend, what job to work at, and even what car we can drive and what road we want to travel. You and everyone will be in my thoughts and prayers daily.

Specializes in NICU, Infection Control.

Godspeed, and safe return. See if you can make videos singing to your kids, or reading them stories, or even saying their bedtime prayers 'with' them. I think that would be a comfort for them.

Keep in touch, and let us know if there's anything we can send in a care package for your unit, or any other unit.

Specializes in OB, M/S, ICU, Neurosciences.

Thank you to all of our military men and women. Godspeed--hope you are able to return safely and soon. Your country appreciates your incredible sacrifice.

As another former military nurse here, I want to wish you the best of luck! Thanks you so much and all of us here at allnurses support you! You make me so proud! I will be saying a prayer for you and yours. Good Luck!
