Funniest Complaint on Press Ganey Scores

Nurses General Nursing

Published

:nurse:hey guys, we got our press ganey scores and surveys from feb...

come complaints were

no food service in the waiting room.....

all the nurses were overweight

nurses were too loud and always on the computer (we have computer charting)

no parking due to ambulances!!!!

call me crazy but when did er become the hilton?

Oh, lets see here.

Complaints that they didn't get back to the ER as soon as they entered the department.

Not given food in the ER (In my opinion - buy your own d@#n food before coming)

Not given FREE medications - yet they can buy stuff out of the snack & pop machines.

Nurses were not smiling (you wouldn't either after some of the things we have to do)

Not giving medical advice over the phone.

Not giving patient information over the phone

IV - Starts

Having to drink oral contrast (gastrograffin) before going to CT (get over it, better than the thick white bear-o-cat (sp) - which would you prefer?)

I never understood why the whole hospital experience suddenly became something you should enjoy as much as a trip to Disney World. You're there to get well, not be entertained.

I understand that we want to know about really bad experiences in our department, but generally you know that without a survey. All we've done is encourage the patient, spouse and friends to move in and demand fast food service with the snap of a finger.

I couldn't care less about the survey........administration has created the problem.

Do you think that Press Ganey does surveys on themselves? I would imagine not. What would happen if the front line staff went ahead and offered their own opinions via email or telephone calls directly to Press Ganey to let them know how effective their services really are???

Just a thought.

Who even thought of these rediculus surveys!!!

Where was the ANA when this all came about!!!

some gems from our units press ganey.....

Nurse didn't know how to speak english, how can she take care of a pt if she can't speak english? (In the pts defense there are some nurses with heavy accents)

Didn't like room temperature (hey genius did you notice the thermostat in the room, I am sorry that fell through the cracks as we were working up your chest pain)

Nurse xxxx is always mean to me when I come to the hospital (it is because nurse xxxx actually makes you do things like participate in PT and other medical interventions?)

(And I always love it when they put the exact number of x's in for the nurses name so you can guess who it was.)

Didn't like this hospital, hospital xxxxx is much better (that go there)

Dr. xxxxx was rude to me, nurse even said so (heheheheh)

We actually like the press ganeys though because the comments tend to be very entertaining and frequently not anything to do with nursing care (temperature, etc)

Press Gainey can kiss my you know what. We actually won an award from them for something or other (see how much I pay attention??). That actually makes it worse. Now pts see that we are "customer service oriented" and want me to order them a pizza from down the street!

Did you ever notice how the highest you can be is very good? We have signs that say, "we strive for 5" and "we strive to offer you very good service". People see the signs and are like, "very good? not excellent? not exceptional?" Lol, it's all so stupid.

I can't think of any of the funny ones off the top of my head (though there are many good ones!), but the one I see a lot that I just can't understand is, "I had to wait 5 huors in the ER and when I got to the floor, they wheeled me past 4 empty beds before I got to mine..." and then it usually ends up with something like an accusation about how the nurses just didn't want to take care of them. I have tried so many times to explain that a census is not based on beds, but on the nurses to staff those beds, but it usually doesn't get through. We've even had family come up to the floor and start yelling baout how Grandad's down in the ER and he's been waiting forever to get a bed, and there are 3 empty ones right there!!! I usually just smile and say something like, well, I suppose if Grandad wants to come on up and lay in one of those beds, fine, but since there is no nurse to take care of him, he'd probably be better off waiting in the ER. ...of course, if they hadn't just wasted 10 minutes yelling at me, I could have started the discharge on the pt who has to leave before Grandad can come up...

All I know is that Press Gainey makes me :angryfire sometimes!!!

We had one the other day, I know this exact pt. he gave it away on the comment section about me and one of the docs I am friends and work with in ER- here goes-

Nurse and physician refused to give me my morphine for kidney stone and then the straight catheter hurt like hell. Well lets see why would we actually give you morphine for the fake kidney stone when I actually caught you pricking your finger and then putting it in your UA sample Dumba$$. And why do you think I cathed you to be having fun. lol:angryfire :uhoh3:

Take a look at the 30 minute ER promise at one of our local hospitals.

That's interesting, steph.

I doubt if patients at my hospital have either the common sense or the motivation to read it.

I posted this on the other PG thread but:

My current assignment is in a very "entitled" section of S. Florida.

I had an elderly pt have a literal melt done - I thought that I was going to have to sedate her. She was in a panic fit over how hopelessly inadequate the facility was, how awful the nurses were, how nothing is done for the good of the pt but merely at "our" convenience.

Her issue:

There was no cupholder in the bathroom for her oral hygiene use.

Oh, the inhumanity of all.

(Of course she was also ticked that it takes 90 minutes for abx to run IV - and can't we move it up 12 hours....it was vanco.....When I explained why this was no appropriate, she had another melt down about why can't we do stuff for the "good of the pt")

Biggest complaint on my unit is lack of sleep for the pt. Vs q 4 unless indicated otherwise, telemetry..so if you pull it off, i will be there to put it back on. I am tired of the complaints on pg from no sleep. Uhhh...when your hr dips in the 20's, should i just let you sleep?

I'm sure our current sickle cell crisis patient is gonna have a complaint: Nurse xxx forgot to bring my water pitcher. Yup. Guilty.
