Just a curious poll! I'm a new nursing student, and see a lot of gals (and guys too!) who wear rings while on the job. How about you?

I wear one plain band on my left hand. This strays the "are ya single" questions from patients.

Single ring..wedding band for work...off work I wear 2-3 others...always afraid I'll loose a diamond in a pile of poo @ work...lol

Nope, no rings. Too much handwashing and taking off of rings. I'm afraid I would lose them.

Before becoming a nurse, I wore lots of rings.

Now, I wear one, my wedding band.

Fear of loosing one is real to me. Lost a real blue sapphire 1/2 carot during a HHC visit. I know it fell on the floor, and when I finished my task, I went looking for it....... Visit in not so nice neighborhood, ten kids in the living room where I was working plus adults, the ring was gone forever. I think they got a big kick out of my crawling around on thier dirty wood floors while I looked for it. Not one offered to help me find it.:crying2:

Just my wedding ring and I hope that I won't ever lose it.

I wear my wedding & anniversary bands on one finger, and my mother's ring on the other hand. I used to wear lots of Black Hills gold, but for obvious infection-control reasons this wouldn't be appropriate for work.

no i don't. i like my hands to be free of jewelry and long nails for sanitary purposes.

No rings at work. Safer and easier to wash my hands.

I wear my wedding rings. I like wearing them. If the diamond gets lost, my husband will buy me another one...he'd better anyway. :D

no rings, i agree that it is much easier to wash hands and get in and out of gloves without them. I wore my wedding ring at first but started seeing it as a harbor for bacteria. One girl in my class wears a ring on each finger!! Im always thinking eww, those must be covered in germs and soap scum.

not to mention the damage diamonds can do to gloves and worse, YOUR PATIENTS' SKIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
