Does the Human Resource have the right to ask how many times you took NCLEX

Just curious for my upcoming interview if they ask the question of how many times you took the NCLEX and do they have the right to ask? Can they find out how many times you took the NCLEX? IMO, it shouldnt matter because LICENSE is LICENSE.. THANKS

i have never heard of human resource asking about NCLEX and how many times you've taken it. did someone ask this? i think as long as you can sign RN or LPN after your name you are fine.

I see no reason why they would be prohibited by law from asking about how many times you took NCLEX. It's not a Federally protected class of information like religion, race, etc.

That said, I don't see why they would think to ask about it unless you have a gap after graduating from nursing school to explain.

I was about to say that. I have a friend who waited close to a year and a half before sitting for NCLEX-PN, and then another 8 months even before searching for a position. They didn't ask her when she sat for NCLEX, but they did ask why it took her so long to graduate early 2006 and apply for a job last week.

If there is a gap, I would probably make up a creative story about leaving town for awhile and then, re-committing to take serious time to review and pass. :smokin:
