I am uncomfortable with that. Do we have options?

if you have a phone, you can be found through the reverse listing site too

Where I live, you have the option of having your telephone listing be name and number only, without including your address.

Of course, it's also possible to have an unlisted number, and the charge for this is relatively small, at least where I live -- well worth it, I think. I've done this for years, and no, you cannot find out my address or phone number by googling my name, nor can you get my address by googling my phone number (I've checked).

When I inquired with the Board in CA, I was told there is a way to block your address being provided to members of the public on your written request. A specific term was used, but I don't remember it. However, I have always distrusted this information. Generally, the public will be provided your address of record. This fact is stated on the application for licensure in CA.

The BON website's license verification only gives county of residence. Is there some other way for members of the public to get a RN's address? If so, I definitely want to block it.

The public can contact the CA BRN and request a nurse's contact info and it will be provided.

Sorry i'm talking about the nursing boards. I was told that we can be looked up by our name on our state's nursing website?

The nursing boards needs your address yes, but that is so they can mail you things when they need to. They won't make it public. That is invasion of privacy.

but yes...it is true a patient (or anyone) can type in your name and look up your license information. such as do you have any criminal charges against you as a nurse? have you in the past? I mean think about it....if someone were taking care of YOUR spouse, or mother, or father wouldnt you like to know that you can access that information if need be??

I honestly don't mind it at all because i have nothing to hide.

I have nothing to hide from the "general public" but some may be in hiding from abusive ex-spouses or stalkers. The public doesn't need to look up individual nurses, or access their information. If someone is concerned they should take it up with the nurse's employer.

I disagree. The public does have a right to know if your license is active and if you have any charges or disciplinary actions against you. I do agree that there is no reason why the BON should make a nurse's personal address public. That has nothing to do with professional credentials, professional competence, or professional integrity.

What on earth makes you think you HAVE to give out your address??? Ur either very young or very naive! I don't understand why this keep coming up on this board - do you HAVE to give this out where you live? Is it a law over there or something?

I give NO personal information to anyone at the door or via phone, except on an application. Why you think you have to give out info really baffles me. If you can explain further, please do.
