A nurse that works at the hospital recently told me that a new doctor from out of the area started recently. He is amazed that doctors still abuse the nurses in our area. He said that at the hospital he just left if any doctor spoke in an abusive manner to a nurse or aide or secretary she/he could pull out a card and tell them "Congratulations, your going to sensitivity training!" If they refused to go, they lost admitting priviledges to the hospital. WOW! Imagine that, an administration that acknowledges the important role their employees play.:bowingpur Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? According to the MD this put a stop to this behavior completely, as the doctors didn't want to waste a day (yes, a day) going to classes.:lol2: How do we get something like that stared in our area?

I don't know, but if you find out, PLEASE post the info!

What hospital did he come from? A call to their HR or nursing supervisor should provide some preliminary information.

I would love that. We have a few residents I would LOVE to hand that card too. They deserve it.

I just thought of about a dozen docs I'd love to give one of those cards to....definitely post more info if you find anything out!

Like a referee in a soccer game. Yellow card = warning. Red card = your outta there!

Several years ago our health care region initiated a Respect in the Workplace program that includes self-study modules followed by an exam on the contents of each. All staff members are expected to comply with the learning packages and submit their completed modules to the manager within a given period of time. This is a condition of employment. But guess what... The physicians are exempt because they aren't "employees" , they're independent contractors...

What a great idea!

I like the idea and I can think of one or two doctors who could use more than one class in good manners!

There is a possibility that people would abuse this though. How would you like it if a CNA handed you one of these cards because you asked him/her to do a task? People could definitely use these cards to falsely accuse people they didn't like of 'insensitivity'.

No thanks lol, docs might pull that card on me haha.

Yes. And that could definitely back fire with some major resentment issues. Perhaps though if two or three people nominate someone for sensitivity training it would help to prevent one person's personal vendetta from controlling everyone.

I want to transfer there!!!!
