Where I work part time is the preferred option. Lower benifit costs for the hospital, If you pick up a day it's not overtime. Staff also like part timers-If I need a day off I can ask you to work for me without preapproval. You build seniority slower so I have less competition for vacation choice and bidding on new positions. I you can afford it, it is very much avail.

Where I work, my NM is actively trying to find more part-time employees. We are switching to an every 3rd weekend schedule in January and I guess they need more pt employees to fill in the gaps.

I worked full time nites for years with a part-time day job; (at another employer). Worked very well.
