Dang - the Messiah sure gets around! I've cared for him as well. You know - you hear that he's into nonviolence and turning the other cheek and all that, but, boy, can he kick when you're putting him in four ways!
Although I didn't take care of her (she had a sitter), I did have the honor of meeting my idol, Kate Smith, shortly before she passed away. She even attempted to sing "God Bless America" for me----and I was touched beyond words. I had grown up watching her show. One beautiful, elegant lady. I will always hold that in my heart.
How wonderful to have met Kate Smith. I also grew up watching her show. It's her "Bluebirds Over the White Cliffs of Dover" that does it for me every time. I once had the honor of "coffee breaking" for the Navy medic who cared for President Harry S. Truman, the night before he passed away. I sat there, hardly breathing myself, unable to believe that I could be sitting next to history.
I live in Sunny Florida and we do have a lot of famous people visit. The hospitals where I work are the one that take care of the New York Yankees (they do spring training here) and the Tampa Bay Bucs... OH and if the president (you know, Dubbya) gets sick while in town, we would get him too.
I can't really say specifically who I have attended too, (and I DO say attended because he thought I was his slave, )
my experience tells me that these big ruff tuff players are really just little babies!!!

Not only did I care for him post-op, the poor guy was really slow getting bowel function back, so me (AKA poo-poo angel) went to work on him, AND he had to be catheterized. I didn't offer to step aside for another nurse, because it didn't seem like that big a deal, and it didn't seem like a biggie to him, either.
Matter of fact, he wrote me and my nm a letter about how professionally I'd handled it, and how I'd taken great care of him. Surprised me.
WOW!!
Cool! What did you do in the entertainment business?

That question wasn't necessarily directed to you, and I didn't assert that you had breached patient confidentiality.
It was just a question from a nursing student who is still learning about legal issues such as this.
It certainly wasn't meant to be offensive.
